Chappie Twenty Eight

 

The lady appeared with a good looking young man dressed in suit.

 

“Good afternoon” the Man greeted.

 

“Good afternoon” they both chorus.

 

 

“Please ma’am what do you need?” The man asked politely.

 

“We need two bottles of water”Ann answered.

 

“Oh do you need warm or cold one?”.

 

“Chilled one will be better” she replied.

 

The man faced the waiter and instructed them to give them two bottles of water and he made to leave.

 

“Please mister don’t leave, we might want to to converse with her, she might not understand us, I and my sister has been telling her that we need two bottles of water, she just stare at us Blankly before she went to call you”.

 

“Am so sorry for the inconveniences please” the man replied.

 

“How much is the drink?” .

 

“Just two hundred naira” he replied.

 

“Why is she taking so long?” Ann asked.

 

“Am sorry let me see to it” the man replied and left.

 

Few minutes later, the waiter brought the bottles and hand the bottles over to them with a scorn on her face, they gave her the money and left.

 

They both left to the car and the car zoomed off.

 

“Oh Bell mum has called me two times” Ann announced checking through her phone.

 

“Ann please my name is Isabella or Bella for short please don’t call me Bell am not a thing or an object, dad called too”.

 

 

“Hello mum we are coming,we stopped for a bottle of water,we are thirsty yeah no we didn’t eat anything, what did she prepare oh ok” Ann smiled and hung up.

 

“Woah mum said our granny has prepared some local delicacies” Ann said happily.

 

“Ok” Bella replied “but Ann what’s with you and this local stuff, first you are excited about coming here, secondly you are grinning from ear to ear over some local food, thirdly am still trying to cope with Lagos and now this, there’s nothing facinating around here that idiot couldn’t understand what am saying earlier” Bella snapped.

 

“Fourthly Christan isn’t gonna leave you ok” Ann smiled.

 

“Shut up” Bella yelled.

 

And the driver smiled

 

“What’s so funny” she snapped at the driver.

 

“Mister I apologise on her behalf, she is craziest” Ann replied.

 

“And you are crazier”.

 

“No am just crazy, you are the crazy with the IEST”.

 

“Huh” Bella groaned.

 

“You love don’t you” Ann teased.

 

“Shut up” Bella yelled again.

 

“Are we going back to Lagos why are we not there yet” Bella exclaimed angrily.

 

“We will soon be there, Bella just pray I don’t see Christan anytime soon am going to castrate him” Ann seeths.

 

“Then I will cut Max’s balls and feed it to the fishes in the ocean”.

 

 

“Here we are” Ann exclaimed when the car stopped in front of a giant black gate.

 

The driver manoeuvre his way inside the compound and stopped in front of the magnificent building standing in the compound.

 

Ann got down and carried her bag towards the building. Their grandmother and parents rushed outside to receive them.

 

The granny was rushing towards them when she suddenly stopped on her track.

 

“Richard who is this?” She asked pointing to Annabelle.

 

“Mama this is Annabelle our second daughter and that’s your Isabella” Richard replied.

 

“Isabella?” Mama called and went over to Bella and engulfed her in a hug ” my child it’s been a long time” she greeted then she moved over to Ann “my princess how are you?” She bowed and Ann engulfed her in a hug.

 

“What up with everyone calling Ann a princess, she’s not even dressed like one” Bella scoffs and their parents laughed it off.

Both Bella and Ann were told to share room together and Bella did not cease to show her distaste

 

“What? Why am I suppose to share a room with her”she exclaimed dragging her box angrily on the tiles.

 

“Bella that’s not supposed to be a problem, you had no problem with it before what is wrong?” Their mother asked worriedly.

 

“Mum Christan problem” Ann whispered.

 

 

“Ann shut up your mouth before I hit you”.

 

“Yes ma’am” Ann smiled dragging her boxes along with her.

 

After some minutes the dining was set and they all gathered at the table to eat their food, their granny prayed and the food was served it left both Ann and Bella staring blankly at the food..

 

Their parents chuckled and starts eating their food.

 

“Patricia what are you giving this children over there?” Granny asked.

 

“Mama don’t mind them, when they are young, i cooked Ogbono soup for them they didn’t even touch the food,they are so in love with the junks they eat over there.

 

“Well I will eat now”Ann exclaimed rinsing her hands and cutting a bolous of pounded yam then she stick it inside the soup “hmm delicious, granny you are the best” she compliments while the old woman smile sweetly at her.

 

“Am not eating this” Bella announced.

 

“Then prepare to go hungry” their dad replied.

 

“Dad” Bella exclaimed.

 

Ann rinse her hands and pulled her to a corner

 

“Bella I know you are crazy but sis you are not sassy,stop doing this, you are hurting the old woman” Ann said and Bella shrugged.

 

“First you yelled at me in the car that’s so unlike of you don’t think about Christan think about Dave, Dave likes the crazy part of you not the grumpy and sassy part”.

 

“Am sorry sis” Bella responded “but am not eating that food”.

 

“Ok 5000bucks for you if you eat the food and you don’t enjoy it”.

 

“And?”.

 

“5000bucks for me if you eat the food and you enjoy it” .

 

“Deal” Bella smiled and they both walk back to the dining.

 

“Am sorry mum,am sorry dad,am sorry granny” she apologized and starts eating.

 

“Woah” she didn’t know when she exclaimed.

 

“5000bucks for me” Ann whispered into her ear.

 

“Yeah you won this time” she whispered back.

 

“Granny thanks for this meal, it’s so delicious, you are the best.

 

Ann smiled at the old woman

 

“Ada you are welcome” grandma replied back.

 

After they finished eating they all settled into their rooms.

 

Ann laid on the bed chatting with Max

 

Max: how are you princess

 

Ann: Am fine

 

Max: do you like our state

 

Ann: it’s so cool,I finally taste Afang soup Max:woah i will be in Anambra in two days time.

 

“Seriously” Ann exclaimed.

 

“What’s wrong” Bella snapped.

Ann replied and faced her sister

 

“Bella I know you are just putting on a facade so that you will not pay my 5000bucks but let me burst your bubble am collecting my money” Ann smiled mockingly at her.

 

“Whatever” Bella scoffs

 

“You know what, let’s talk about Christan, what’s happening between you too” she asked worriedly.

 

“I think he’s not committed to the relationship like before” Bella replied sadly.

 

“Please sis permit me to ask this before we relocated back to Nigeria did you guys talk about the distance remember this is not state apart but continent apart”.

 

“We did talk, he said he’s okay with it, that was what he told me” .

 

“What if the poor guy is not okay with it what if he just said that to please you it’s not everyone that could cope with long distance stuff”.

 

“I don’t know” Bella sighed “but if he wants to end the whole thing he should just tell me”.

 

“Be patient sis he will tell you and please give Dave a chance the guy adores you I can feel it” Ann replied laughing to the last part.

 

“Yes thanks sis” Bella replied and they hug

 

“Oh! yes I know what will make you feel better” Ann suddenly exclaimed disengaging from the hug

 

“What’s that?” Bella asked.

 

“It’s a surprise” she replied,. Took her wallet and walked out of the room.

 

“Granny! Granny!” She yelled.

 

“Ada my child” grandma called fondly from the sitting room ” am here”. She rushed towards where the old woman was sitting with her parents “Gogo where can I get suya?” She asked.

 

“What? Ann when did you start eating suya?” Her dad asked surprised.

 

“Huh dad what do you know,suya is delicious” she replied.

 

“Let me call the driver to buy it for you Ada” grandma replied.

 

Surprisingly the old woman started calling her Ada since the princess episode. “Mother stop calling her Ada she’s not our first daughter” their mother said “Doesn’t matter Patricia that’s my name for her” Grandma smiled. “Akpan! Akpan” grandma called and a middle aged man entered the room.

 

“My Ada wants to buy suya” grand ma said.

 

“Oh you mean the princess,am at her service” the man bowed.

 

“Oh come off it, I will go along with you” Ann replied.

 

“Bye Ada please be careful out there, Akpan please watch out for her”.

 

“Yes ma the man replied and led her out of the house..

“Good evening I want to buy suya” she said stressing her words.

 

“Princess how much own you wan buy?” The man asked.

 

 

Ann smiled “five thousand naira, please pack it into three places”.

 

“Oh princess you be good cuistomer I go help you add join” the man replied happily.

 

“Thank you” she replied “um Mr Akpan” she said facing the driver “I want to buy Yoghurt” she said.

 

“Don’t worry princess Mama got everything covered,she had stock the fridge with drinks like that”.

 

“Oh that’s so thoughtful of her” Ann mused “oh thank you” she smiled as the Man packaged her suya.

 

She entered the car and they drove back home.

When she got home she gave their granny hers then she moved to their parents room to drop theirs.

 

On her way to the room she shared with her sister she dropped by the kitchen and picked two boxes of Yoghurt with her.

 

“Sis here is the surprise” she exclaimed when she got into their room.

 

Bella looked up from her phone eagerly.

 

“What’s inside the bag?” She asked.

 

“Ta da!” Ann exclaimed opening the warps of the suya.

 

“What’s this?” Bella asked clicking her tongue.

 

“Just taste it a trial will convince you”: Ann replied.

 

“Huh” Bella snorts collecting the Yoghurt from her.

 

“Should we get?” Ann asked mischievously.

 

“No I will pass Cinderella, I will just eat it” she replied taking a piece out of the meat “woah this is delicious, Ann it seems you are learned in all these stuff”.

 

“Courtesy of Max sis” Ann laughed.

 

They talked and gisted till the wee hours of the night before they finally call it a day.

 

But before Ann could sleep she had one thing on her mind.

 

‘what’s up with everyone calling her ‘PRINCESS’ and this led her to yet another of her dreams.
