OVERLOOKED LOVE

 

PART 4

 

 

 

Travis and I did our thing and thereafter, he left for the office to see Tyson. Before he left, he had ignored seven calls from Tess. I urged him to call her so that she doesn’t get suspicious. He told her that he decided to take a short nap because of the hangover. And when she inquired about the hotel, he said he had already checked out because he was leaving that evening. He was to buy the car and then drive back because he further needed the vehicle urgently. She was convinced and told Travis that they had some unfinished business. Instead of dinner as we had earlier planned, Travis asked her to join him for lunch and a restaurant of her choice so that they can talk about the unfinished business. Immediately he left I called Tyson.

 

TYSON: Hello girl, you are missed

 

 

JADE: I hate it when you lie boss. Missing me has never been in your cards.

 

TYSON: Because I don’t say it, but when you are not here, I feel awful.

 

JADE: I believe you

 

TYSON: You are glowing

 

JADE: Are you for real, how do you know?

 

TYSON: I can hear it in your voice. Is he coming?

 

JADE: He is on his way. And please once this deal is done, calculate my cut and text me so that I can make my plans accordingly.

 

TYSON: I hope you have planned well for these huge amounts you are getting.

 

Don’t mess up Jade. Invest well.

 

JADE: I will show you what I am going to do so that you can add some spice to it.

 

TYSON: I am always here for you Jade. I have to go; your man just came in.

 

JADE: All the best.

 

I was contented with my plans and I wasn’t going to let anyone ruin things for me this time round. When my dad was about to acknowledge that his daughter, someone interfered with those plans and he never honored the appointment with my mother. It was the first time I was going to meet him and I was so excited. Next this I heard mum say, “Your dad is dead”. We didn’t attend his funeral in case someone recognized my mum, and had her killed too.

 

My mum had made sure I remained a secret. I never met any of my sisters or brothers until later when my mum told me I had only one sister. My mum died of heartbreak, depression and all those love related problems. It was at that point that I swore I will never love a man with my heart. I will use my head and the left side of my brain. She was a cleaner at Tyson’s company and that is how I got my job.

 

 

Tyson avoided any questions I threw at him regarding my dad. He said he knew nothing and that he employed my mum after she was recommended by a client and he didn’t know anything about her personal life. Two years after my mum’s death I found her diary and that’s how I got to know who my dad was and how he had died. I did my own investigation and found out about Tess. Then I started frequenting the club she went to and only to realize that we had a mutual friend who introduced us to each other. I never told her what I knew because everything was vague to me too. My mum was pretty but not educated. She never wrote proper details about her relationship, only that he rejected the pregnancy at first, but decided to acknowledge me after so many years.

 

I really wanted to tell Tess the whole truth and have her acknowledge me as a sister, but on learning what Raksha did to our father and also how Tess always thought low of me, and rubbing her money on my face at every opportunity, I decided to take what belonged to me from either of them. Calvin’s report really helped me and also the fact that Ryan was to be mine, but Tess took him over like she had the right to every man. I was bitter and planned my revenge on all of them, except Ryan who deep down, I knew would be mine forever. Marrying him would make both Raksha and Tess suffer and keep wondering who I really was and how I managed to outwit them.

 

When Travis rang and told me that he was in the restaurant waiting for her arrival, I felt jealous. I trusted Travis but not Tess, she was touchy and can be all over a man. It was suffocating. Most men love such attention but hers was overwhelming. It was past

 

At quarter past 2pm, he rang again and told me that lunch was over and he was on his way to my place. I was excited. I wanted to know what they had discussed. I wasn’t sure if he will tell me the truth of hide some, but what I knew about Travis, he was an honest man who handled things with intelligence. He was a little shrewd but only if it was benefiting him. Tyson filled me in on all details about Travis. He was married to an equally wealthy woman. There was a lot of competition between the two on who bought what and who had the best in life. They had no child and Travis never admitted to anyone that he was married. To the world he was so single and looking. Tyson believed that beside the wife, Travis liked only me and

 

 

not any other woman. He feared scandals and would not sleep with just any woman who would blackmail or threaten him. He trusted me.

 

He arrived at 2:15pm with a wide smile on his face. I knew the news was good. He hugged and kissed me thunderously. I don’t know where he got the kissing talent from; his mouth was full of goodies like chocolates and sweets. I never wanted him to stop kissing me, but we had matters to handle.

 

JADE: That was a death or life kiss?

 

TRAVIS: Both my dear. I have met lots of women but not as stupid as Tess.

 

JADE: Ehe, she tried to kiss you in the restaurant?

 

TRAVIS: That and many more. She is wild in a very weird way. It’s like she wants to prove something. I don’t think she is over the father of her child or Ryan. She falls in love easily and clings on the man like he is the only one in the world.

 

JADE: I think she is sexually weak. When with a man she starts imagining how he is in bed and the thinks he can do to her body. Damn! I thank God I have no such blood. Tess can rape someone.

 

TRAVIS: Tell me about it, she almost plucked my D out of its place the other night trying to make it stand. I played dead totally. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, pretending not to feel anything so that I don’t stand.

 

JADE: I am sorry about that. If it stood, she would have jump on it like a rider jumps on a horse.

 

TRAVIS: She was cursing me for drinking a lot and not able to make love to her. She prepared coffee, gave me lots of water to sober me up and I remained in my semi coma. I thought Pythons were dangerous, Tess is worse.

 

JADE: What have you agreed on now?

 

TRAVIS: We are in a ‘relationship’ and she wants me to handle her financial affairs. Invest all her money for her. I have told her of a few plots in Athi River

 

 

and old buildings that can be renovated and later sold. I told her the place is developing fast and that is where business is currently. I will manage it all.

 

JADE: But I don’t think she will trust you with everything if you don’t bang her even ones.

 

TRAVIS: I plan to do that tonight.

 

JADE: What the hell? I thought you told her you are leaving? You ain’t fu.cking that Goose.

 

TRAVIS: She changed my mind and I have to show her that I care and love her you know. You and I know very well I wasn’t going anywhere until Monday.

 

JADE: That has pinched me a little but anyway we know where this is headed.

We sat down to watch a movie, and even before I pressed play, I got a call from Tess. I thought twice before answering but my guts told me to do so.

 

JADE: What do you want?

 

TESS: To apologize about this morning.

 

JADE: Apology accepted but you have lost a friend. You wanted Travis and you can have him. I move on so fast Tess. Probably by Monday I will have another man.

 

 

TESS: I know you are bitter but understand me please. Travis and I have made some plans already and we are now together. I am sure it hurts but that’s life. He had not even put a ring on your finger. You had things figured out on your part, but remember, rich men prefer rich women.

 

JADE: You are so full of yourself. Is that why you rang? To tell me that you and Travis are now a couple? See your life. You fall in love so fast. I know this is revenge, let’s see how it unfolds. As a ‘friend’ I wish you the best.

 

TESS: He is spending with me tonight.

 

JADE: That is none of my business Tess. You can even have him tonight and every other night, who cares?

 

TESS: I just thought you should know. Travis loves class, not ratchets!

 

I never replied to that because I knew what was coming. I was just waiting for her to use such a filthy word on me. I gave Travis a bad look and he just smiled like a baby……

 

That evening, at 8pm, I saw Travis off while feeling so down. I was empty and full of wild thoughts. I sat down on my couch pulled myself together to make the ONLY phone call I had been planning to make for quite a long time.

 

I went to my phone book, scrolled down to R and boom……RYAN was still there.

 

I smiled to myself before I pressed call. First ring, no answer. Second ring no answer, after third ring……a groggy voice came on the line.

 

RYAN: Hello

 

JADE: Hello Ryan. It Jade. We need to meet

 

RYAN: You devil.

 

JADE: Yes, me devil.

 

RYAN: What do you want?

 

JADE: I can help you finish renovating that building you were working on and also get you a buyer. Are you still banging Raksha?

 

RYAN: It was never like that with her and you know it. You are joking about the building, yah?

 

JADE: Meet it at THE CLUB and hear me out. From one devil to another.

 

RYAN: What time?

 

JADE: 10PM, it’s a date. Come looking glam

 

RYAN: I will be there.

 

 

 

 

 

The games had just begun. It was my time to get my man back. Jade was just being who she is….. A go getter. Tess wasn’t the only one to be laid that night….. I was in the game too…
