I got dressed then went to prepare dinner, meanwhile in granny’s room,she was sitting on her bed while Lelo was sitting on the couch next to the dressing table… Gran:(calmly) so, you really pregnant?

 

Lelo :yes granny..

 

Gran:how long?

 

Lelo:(rubbing her hands) five months..

 

Gran:where is the father?

 

Lelo:he’s at school.

 

Gran:what did he say about the pregnancy?tell me everything, and does his parents know?

 

Lello:(wiping tears) he said his not ready to be a father and he is scared to tell his parents because they gonna disown him if they find out, his doing grade 12…

Gran:listen my child,i love you very much,you and your sister but it seems like the two of you don’t know or see that, i’ve tried my best with you two, i sent you to school so that you can have a better future but you decided to entertain boys now you pregnant, and the worse part right now is that the person who made you pregnant want nothing to do with you or the baby, so my question to you is how are you gonna take care of the baby because you not working, a child is expensive and i don’t need stress.so what is your plan? Lelo:i don’t know..

 

Gran:you have to know dear, before your mom died she asked me to take care of you and your sister, not your kids, so am gonna do what i did to your sister when i found out she’s been messing around with a married man, since you are old enough to have a child, i want you to pack your things and leave my house, i will not stay with someone’s wife here, you nolonger a child but a mother, so i suggest you call your boyfriend and tell him that granny has kicked me out, he needs to provide for his family…..

Her:Thula please you need to help me and talk to grandma, she want me to leave, where am i gonna go…

 

Me:you should’ve thought about that before falling pregnant….

Me:fine,if shee leaves I’m leaving with her.

Me:yes,am leaving with her, i agree she needs to be taught a lesson but kicking her

 

out a le pregnant is not a good idea..

Me:no,i love my sister very much to just give her to the nyaope boys in a silver platter.

 

Gran:(teary) so you think I don’t love her? Me:(leaving her room) clearly you don’t……

 

I wasn’t ready to lose my sister, yes what she did was wrong but we needed to support her as a family not throw her out, where was she supposed to go because that stupid boyfriend of hers wanted nothing to do with them…

 

I went to my room and i started packing……. Few minutes later granny came to my

Me:(interrupted her) and am going back next year, iam saving money for my fees and someone promised to help…

Me:ahhh(before i could i answer her my phone rang) sorry i need to take this..

We arrived and his mom was busy in the kitchen, i went to greet her and she gave me that nasty look,”ohh boy this is gonna be a long dinner”,i said to myself….

 

At dinner table Dan’s mother was sitting opposite us, she kept checking her watch like she was expecting someone…
