Pablo’s POV continues…,

 

“You did?” I asked mum unbelievably.

 

She nodded.

 

“Why did you do that? I already got her a driver. So what was the need?”

 

 

 

She came closer and patted my back comfortingly.

 

“Your driver got sick, he came to inform you but you were so busy with work. So I had no choice but to change him”

 

“And you didn’t feel the need to inform me first? And how come this moron was using his phone?” I asked pointing a hand at the man sitting beside Paula.

 

“Everything happened so fast. I didn’t get the chance to talk to you about it”.

 

“So where is he?”

 

“He’s been hospitalized. You can go check for yourself”. She sniffed as tears pull at the corner of her eyes.

 

 

“Are you sure?” I asked looking into her eyes keenly.

 

“Look, my son, I admit I don’t like Paula but I can’t wish her evil. Your mum is not a murderer I will never stoop that low.

 

… And I’m sorry if what I did caused you so much ” she apologized.

 

“No. Mum. You didn’t do anything wrong, so don’t apologise. I’m sorry for thinking the worst of you” I went to her side and hugged her.

 

For once I thought….no I won’t think that way. Mum can’t do that.

 

“I’m sorry, but you all have to leave the room. Mr Carlos Xander, please come with me, your wounds have to be treated.”

 

So his name is Xander.

 

I rushed to him,” Doctor, when will she wake up?”

 

“A week or two?” He replied simply and walked out.

 

Daniel came and squeezed my shoulder,” I will be back. The police are here. I would see them and come back later. Take care”. He said and left as well.

 

It was only left with mum and I.

 

“Mum, you can go home now. I will be fine”. I assured her and went to sit beside Paula.

 

“Are you sure? I can stay behind if you want me to.” She suggested.

 

“You don’t have to. I will be fine”

 

“If you say so. Call me if you need anything”. She said and hugged me.

 

“Thank you, mum”

 

 

She stopped and turned,” Don’t mention, my dear. I’m always here for you. I will make up for all the wrongs i did” she said and walked out.

 

Maybe Paula’s situation can change mum’s hatred into love for her.

 

I watched as she walked out gracefully.

 

I took Paula’s hand in mine the moment mum left.

 

Her pulse was so faint and all the blood has drained from her cute face. Her pouty lips were close tightly. She still looked so beautiful even in this state.

 

“Paula” I called her name quietly and cupped her face in my palms.

 

Just last night we were so happy together. I wouldn’t have allowed you to go if I knew this was going to happen.

 

I’m sorry Anna. I caused all this. I am to blame for your accident. If I hadn’t got a driver for you perhaps this wouldn’t have happened.

 

I should have just given the keys to you I shouldn’t have done all that.

 

You’re suffering so much just because of me.

 

“Please Paula wake up”. I stroke her cheeks softly.

 

“Wake up. Don’t you hear me? I said wake up!”

 

I began shaking her by the shoulder.

 

“I Know I’ve wronged you but please don’t punish me like this. Don’t you dare leave me behind please I might die.” I placed my head on her chest and wept bitterly.

 

This is too much for me to take. Anna can’t leave me just like that.

 

“Wake up Anna Paula Devante. Please wake up…”

 

I muttered slowly and closed my eyes.

 

 

Florencia’s POV

 

 

I didn’t plan to hurt my Pablo like that, but I just can’t forget what that woman did to me.

 

I just can’t forget it.

 

And till I get my revenge, I won’t rest.

 

“Where is that fool?” I muttered.

 

I gave him just a simple job to do but he screwed everything up.

 

I searched the wards but I didn’t find him.

 

I brought out my phone and call him,” where are you,fool”.

 

“I’m with the doctor”.

 

“Meet me in my car right now…”

 

I bumped into someone and the phone fell.

 

“Sorry” we both said together.

 

He bend a took the phone for me.

 

He was dressed casually but he had a Bluetooth in his ears. Is he some detective or what?.

 

A detective won’t dress cheaply like that he must be an errand boy. Yes his an errand boy.

 

“Here is your phone”

 

“Thank you” I mumbled and walked out.

 

I got inside my car and waited for Xander to come.

 

He arrived and got into the car.

I don’t know how you will do it but make sure my name doesn’t appear anywhere. else I will deal with you personally. Now get out of my sight.

“Where is the rest of my money” he asked.

 

“Unlike you, I Know how to do my work well. Your money has been deposited into your account”.

 

He nodded and left.

 

 

Daniel’s POV

 

 

Thank you for coming but I don’t think your services will be needed now. The matter has already been dissolved”

 

I explained to the police Pablo called.

 

 

“Are you sure about this, Prosecutor? Because the accident doesn’t look like it seems.”The leader of the team questioned.

 

“I’m glad you’ve also noticed. There’s something fishy. Two cars attacking one car at a go is strange. And for that, I’ve already assigned some able detectives to investigate the matter further” I concluded.

 

“Okay, then we will take our leave. We are at your services 24/7. Call us anytime.” He said and left.

 

“Hi DD” a voice said from behind.

 

I looked up and it was detective Emmanuel. He came without his team. I’m glad he did that. This hospital is not a safe place to discuss these cases.

 

As usual, he was dressed casual in a T-shirt and a cardigan.

 

“We meet again” I said and shook his hand.

 

“But this time things have change. You’re now a proud prosecutor”

 

I shrugged,” It’s makes no different. At the end of the day, we are all fighting for one course and that is….”

 

“Justice” we both said together and laughed.

 

“And guess what?” He asked with a knowing look.

 

“Don’t tell me You’ve already got a clue” I asked in Amazement.

 

“What if I say, I have?” He said turning his back to me.

 

My eyes widened. This guy is smarter than I thought.

 

Then he spun around,” Get ready. We’re going to kick some butts soon”.
