Still on Pablo’s POV

 

“What? Who?” I asked in amazement.

 

“Don’t play dumb with me young man.”

 

Okay this is serious. Why is mum sounding this way?

 

“Well, she is my girlfriend”. I answered boldly.

 

” Girlfriend.” She repeated.

 

 

“Do you know her very well?”

 

“Yes, mum”

 

She nodded calculatingly .”What’s her name again? ”

 

“Anna Paula D….”

 

“Devante” she finished it for me.

 

That’s it! You are not seeing that woman again. Cut all ties with her. I don’t want you around her.” She said with absolute finality.

 

“But mum…”

 

“Don’t argue with me, I’m done here”.

 

What does this woman mean? Does she has the slightest idea what she is asking me to do? I guess not.

 

Well, mum.. I guess this wish of yours can not be fulfilled. Too bad. I’m sorry but what you’re asking is impossible. ” I said looking straight into her eyes.

 

“And why won’t you?” She asked in amusement.

 

“Paula and I are inseparable. We can’t live without each other. So you telling me to stop seeing her is like forbidding me to breath. I love her so much that I can’t live without her. She is the very air that I brea……”

 

“Cut the crap, young man. I didn’t call you in here to listen to this nonsense. Quit with her or I will make you.”

 

“Mum, may I know your reasons? I’m curious.”

 

“She is a Devante. That should be enough.” She replied.

 

 

“Come on mum. We don’t judge people so quickly. Reconsider your decision my dear mum. Besides you just met her.” I said.

 

“Is obvious you have know idea who they really are. Stay away from her and avoid your mums wrath from coming upon her”.

 

Mummm? Since when have you become so mean. Gosh! Unbelievable.

 

“Anyway see you later. We are not yet done. You still got some explanations to do.”

 

I said rushing towards the door but then I stopped,” Get used to her because she will soon be your daughter in-law.”

 

I made it through the door to downstairs shaking my head I can’t believe mum will be sooo mean. And whatever reason she has against Paula, that I don’t give a fu.ck. All I know is I love her. That will be enough for now. Or wouldn’t it?

 

When I reached where she was, I noticed her staring into space. I cleared my throat but she didn’t hear.

 

So I bend low and whispered into her ear. “What are you thinking about?”

 

She jolted at once almost falling.

 

“Can’t stop thinking about me?” I asked cocking a brow.

 

“Of course not.” She replied.

 

“I know you wouldn’t admit it, Darling”. I drawled.

 

She rolled her eyes,” Oh please snap out of it and stop being cocky”.

 

“Ouch! That hurt”. I said placing my hands on my chest dramatically. ” You shouldn’t say that sweetheart, You just burst my bubble “. I said grinning widely.

 

” Oops sucks for you “. She said returning the grin.

 

 

I stared at her dreamily. I can’t believe she is all mine. I guess am the luckiest man to have her. She is my happiness.

 

Suddenly I remembered what mum said about her and couldn’t help the worries that creased my forehead. Why wouldn’t mum like her.?

 

Oh..hello? Snap out of it, Mr lover boy”, she drawled snapping her fingers in my face.

 

“Let’s go lemme drop you home” I suggested dismissively.

 

“And mum?”

 

“Well, she is kinda tired. So she said she will set a date so she could meet you personally in order to familiarize with you properly”. I lied beautiful.

 

” Meaning… She like me?” She asked hopefully.

 

How do I tell you this, Paula. That my mum hasn’t approve yet?

 

I think I have to lie again.

 

“Yes..babe”.

 

” Oh…really? ”

 

“Really”.

 

She smiled widely throwing her arms around me in a hug.

 

I wish all this was true.

 

” Hey! Don’t get too excited. Let’s get going already ”

The ride back was silence. She was smiling all through the drive.

 

 

With one hand placed on her lap, we came to a screeching halt in front of her apartment.

 

I followed her gaze to the hand I’ve placed on her lap. She looked back at me locking gaze with me. Gosh! Those emerald eyes, I can spend the entire day staring into them. She blushed when my gaze dropped to her lips.

 

I couldn’t take it any longer. I leaned forward and captured her succulent lips. She taste so divine.

 

I nibbled on the lower lip before parting it for entrance. She quickly opened up and I deepened the kiss. She threw her hands on my neck, pulling me closer. I brushed my hands over her visible thigh, drawing a moan from her. My breathing staggered as the kiss got hot.

 

As much as I want it to continue, I knew someone had to stop so I did.

 

I didn’t miss the disappointment that crossed her face.

 

I cupped her cheeks in my palm and rested my forehead on hers. Trying to regulate my breathing.

 

I pulled back and stared at her. She turned crimson, while hiding her face from me with her palm.

 

“Don’t”, I said removing her hands away from her face.

 

Why are you staring at me like that?” She asked smiling slightly. “You’re, beautiful”, I complemented her.

 

Gosh, you’re fluttering me” she said hiding her face again.

 

“I love you, Anna Paula” I confessed truthfully.

 

“Love you too. Like a lot. She replied. Blushingly.

 

 

” I need to sort out some files at the office. See you later.

 

I quickly got out to open the door. But She did it herself. though she protested, I got out anyway.

 

And with one quick hug, i drove off after blowing her a kiss.

 

I need to find out the reason why mum dislikes the Devante’s.
