I’m good, uhmm could I ask you for a favor?

Jeffrey’s coming over too see me but you know my mom doesn’t like him for reasons best known to her so I’d like to stay over at your place. Okay then,you both can stay at the guest room.

Really? Thanks babe.

Well she agreed to that quickly don’t you think? I think she’s trying to make up for her actions.

Mom wasn’t home so I dressed up and left for Jessica’s. “Wow Steph! Who are you going to meet?” Nora asked “No one! I’m just seeing a friend here” “Who’s he?” She asked

“What do you mean by he, I never mentioned any gender”

“Well you look too good to be seeing a female. I’m very happy Steph and when I am,I talk a lot”

“What do you mean Nora? Please be in your good behavior tonight, please!”

“Fine then, let me sleep over at your house,deal?”

“No,no deal! Your mom’s not going to consent. Oh c’mon Nora! Please!”

“Your choice Steph,I can’t wait to blabber the whole day”

‘fine! I’ll convince your mom,happy now?”

“Yes I am” she answered hugging me.

She suddenly kept mute looking at the door.

“Good evening dad” she said

“Good evening Sir” I said too

He replied and went up to his room.

I left Nora and rushed upstairs to Jessica’s room.

Hey Jessie

Hi babe, what’s up? Has he called yet?

No but there’s a big problem! Your dad’s back.

It’s not a problem,he came in yesterday from New Orleans and doesn’t come down, he’s always upstairs and you guys will be in the guest room so chill. Ok! If you say so.

That reminds me,he got you some gifts. Here they are.

I checked them and it was some clothes, bags and a pair of sneakers. They were dope.

Just then my phone rang,it was Jeff

“hey Babe, how are you doing?”

“Just here, waiting for your calls”

“I’m sorry but I can’t do today no more, I have to be with my sister in the hospital

but I promise I’ll make it up to you ”

“Oh yeah, that’s true. Alright honey”

That reminds me,I haven’t even told Jes about Annabel’s health status.

Jes! I forgot to tell you, Annabel’s sick. Jeff told me she’s in the hospital so he can’t come anymore.

“Aww, what’s wrong with her,hope she’s good?

I think she is getting better,well I hope!”

I need to get going then!

No please don’t go Steph. She said looking gloomy

Why? What’s wrong?!

Nothing just that I’ll be bored.

Are you okay Jes? Nora was gloomy too? Is there anything you’re not telling me?

No c’mon! I’m fine! Nora’s probably acting or so. Just stay for a while okay?

“Stephanie’s POV*

I got home from school today and well I must admit, school doesn’t look like school without my rival turned best pal. She wasn’t in school today too so I was worried sick. I tried her number thrice but she only answered on the fourth one. “Hey Ann! How are you? I’m missing you a lot! How is your health?”

“I’m fine babe.. I’m getting better” her voice sounded really weak and faint . “Are you really okay Ann?

“Steph, please.. can you come visit me tomorrow?”

“Sure! I will after school tomorrow I promise!”

“No! No Steph I’ll be long gone by then! Far away from home”

“What do you mean?

“Calm down Steph, just come a little earlier please” and she hung up.

Something was definitely wrong with her. I was now getting scared so I decided I’d visit her tomorrow during school hours though.
