Stephen: Thanks for signing the papers. If everything goes well, everything will be finalised within a month.
Stacy: You’re welcome.
Stephen: I..i want us to talk, if that’s okay.
Stacy: (sits up) yes, it’s okay.
Stephen: It’s a shame what happened happened but I want to ensure you are okay whatever you decide to do henceforth.
As much as I hate to say this, I still love you and you are still the mother of the best thing that has happened to me in life.
I would want you to maintain the standard of living you’ve always had. So what are your plans?
Stacy: I’ll be fine. I would have wanted to have custody of Steph but I don’t want to fight you over her.
You are a great dad and I can’t take that away from you. I have no doubt you will take proper care of her.
However, I’ll like to have her over every weekend.
Stephen: Sure. I promise you she’ll be well taken care of by myself. As soon as you leave, the house help leaves too. I want to look after her myself.
Stacy: would that not be too much for you combing childcare and work?
Stephen: Not at all. And yes, you can have her weekends. You still haven’t told me how you’ll be able to keep up since you are currently unemployed..
Stacy: I got two job offers yesterday and I’ve accepted one. A house agent friend of mine was also able to get me a very nice accommodation close to my work place. So I’ll be fine
Stephen: phew! This is not happening, is it! Stacy, the five million in our joint account is yours okay?
Stacy: Why? That’s not fair. We should share it. Afterall, you own more than sixty percent of it.
Stephen: It doesn’t matter. I think you need it more. You can also keep the Camry.
Stacy: Thanks.
Stephen: Is there anything else you would want to keep?
Stacy: Yes…
Stephen: Name it
Stacy: You, our marriage..our home but I guess that’s asking for too much
Stephen: Stacy, I’ve tried but it’s just not happening. I’m really sorry I can’t give you the one thing you want. Take anything else, please?
Stacy: No. It’s fine. What do we tell Stephanie?
Stephen: That’s another bridge before us. I…I was thinking we tell her you got
another job and can’t go from here because it’s too far, so you got a house closer to
your work place..
What do you think?
Stacy: Sounds okay…
Stephen: When she is old enough, we can tell her the truth..

Stacy: I pray not to live that long. I pray not to see that day; but when you narrate the story to her, don’t fail to mention to her that I did it because I wanted to give her the best life possible..
Stephen: Let’s not go there again, please. Should I get her?
Stacy: Yes…
(Stephen went to Steph’s bedroom and luckily she was already awake. So he carried her to Stacy’s bedroom and she ran straight into Stacy’s arms)
Stacy: Awwww mama! Did you sleep well?
Stephanie: Yes.
Stacy: Good girl. Did you wet your bed?
Stephanie: No.
Stacy: You are now a big girl, ain’t you!
Stephen: It’s time to buy you the big doll, then. Is it?
Stephanie: Yes.
Stephen: Daddy will buy it this weekend. Happy?
Stephanie: Yes.
Stephen: Steph, mummy will not be living with us anymore. She got a job very far away so we got her a house closer to her work place. But you will be seeing her every weekend.
Stehapnie: Okay.
Stephen: Is that okay?
Stephanie: No
Stephen: Why not?
Stephanie: She can work where you work or she can work in our house upstairs
Stacy: (struggling to hide her tears) there’s no job upstairs, darling.
Stephanie: But dad always says he is going upstairs to work!

Stephen: phew! That’s when I bring work home from work. But you will still see her every weekend, okay?
Stephanie: But Namita lives with her mummy and daddy!
Stephen: alright, alright there’s no need getting upset. But mummy needs to work so she can afford all your toys
Stephanie: But daddy, you have big big money!!
Stacy: Sweetheart, just let her be for now. Come to mummy okay?
Stephanie: Don’t leave me
Stephen: She is not leaving you, mama
Stacy: I’ll never leave you. Never ever! Now, tell mummy, what would you like to have for breakfast?
Stephanie: cocopops.
Stacy: Alright, then. Daddy will clean your mouth while I get it ready, okay?
Stephanie: Okay, mummy.
Stephen: damn! This is going to be harder than I thought!
Why!!! Why!!! Stacy why!!!!
Stephanie: Daddy, stop shouting!!!
Stephen: I’m sorry, mama. Let’s go brush your mouth…
