Chapter 10

Darkness was surrounding me, I wanted to wake up, but I couldn’t, I felt weak and fragile.

“Jane can you heard me, wake up” I heard a very nervous and worried Alexander in my mind.

“I can’t, the mist…”

“Jane you have to wake up now, or the mist…will get into your mind, now please…try to wake up” he insisted. I tried to open my eyes, it took all of me to open them, my vision was still blurry, but I could still see Alexander and Marisa in front of me.

“Jane!” Marisa exclaimed. She looked worried and sad.

“Where am I?” I whispered looking around, but all I could see was white walls. “You’re in the nurse’s office” Marisa said. “Jane…Alexander…how?”

I couldn’t lie to Marisa any longer, but I was also shocked to see Alexander here at school, but then again, he said he was going to come back.

“Marisa, can I have a minute alone with Alexander” she nodded and left the room. I looked back to Alexander and saw him with a sad face, I breath in and close my eyes remembering how we used to be when we were little and when he kissed me. I open my eyes and saw him staring at me. “Why are you here?” “I had to come and see if were safe” he said sounding not so sure.

“I need you to tell me why the mist is following me around, who wants me dead?” “Jane…there are things that you won’t understand, but the hunters are after my family and they know how to hurt me…how to make me weak…” “How?”

“By hurting you” I immediately looked down, not wanting to meet his eyes. “Alexander…I…as much as I hate to say this, we can’t be together”

“You told me that already, but I need you to look at me on the eyes and tell me that you want me to go away, prove that you don’t love me anymore” I looked up and saw determination on his eyes, I froze all of the sudden, I couldn’t tell him to go, because there was a part of me that wanted him to stay and still love him.

Nothing else mattered right now, but him and me. He leaned closer and without asking, he kissed me, sparks went all over me. I kissed him back pulling him closer, I smelled his scent and felt his hands roaming my back not wanting to let go, I kissed him with all my might caressing his face and remembering how much I had missed him…

We pulled away after what it seemed a long time our breathing was accelerating, I took a deep breath and calmed down while I saw Alexander looking around and blushing. I smiled when he turned around and saw his face red as a tomato. “What?” he asked, trying to hide a smile.

“Your face…you look cute” I blushed as soon as I stop talking, he smirk and walked up to me.

“Really?” he asked very seductively. Now he is flirting with me. Great.

I heard someone clear their throat and I pushed Alexander gently, trying not to get more attention.

“Well Ms. Sterling, I see that you’re awake, are you feeling any better?” the nurse

asked, eyeing both me and Alexander.

“Um…yeah, I’m fine now, can I leave?”

“Of course, but don’t hesitate to come if you start feeling bad again” she said writing me a pass to class.

“Ok, thanks” I took the pass from her. I stopped when she asked Alexander if he was a new student.

“Yes, I am actually, just got transfer here from New York” he said sounding very confident.

He is a big fat liar , I thought to myself as soon as we were out of the room.

“I am not” he said walking next to me.

“Stop getting in my mind” I said stopping.

“Why, is fun” he said smiling.

“FUN!?” I shouted.

“Hey, you can get on my mind too, I just have to let you”

“Really?”

“Yeah, it only works if the you’re still wearing the bracelet that I gave you” I stopped for a minute, I took the bracelet from my pocket. “You still have it” he whispered.

“Yeah, I never take it off, except for today, I didn’t have time to put it on this morning” he smiled and took it away from me, took my hand and put it on my left wrist. More stories on Topster-stories app

I looked up and saw him smiling. “This bracelet creates a bond between us, if you really concentrate you can go into my mind”

I closed my eyes for a second, thinking on the bond, I felt an electric shock when Alexander hold my hand.

“You’re doing it, see how easy it is”

“I thought it was going to be hard to get in your mind”

“It might get hard, if I shut it completely off”

I open my eyes and smiled, but I felt bad all of the sudden, knowing that I was cheating on Jack.

“Alexander, we have to stop this now, I’m with someone…”

“Leave him and come with me” he said.

“No, I fought all this years, I cried and couldn’t stop thinking about you, but I also knew that I wasn’t going to see you again, I always had hope, but I needed to forget you and move on and that’s what I’m trying to do” I said flatly.

“You still love me and I love you, you have no idea what I’ve been through, I also cried and couldn’t stop thinking about you, I wanted to come back, but my family was on jeopardy, but I made my decision to leave them and come back for you” he replied.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t do this. I’m going to be okay, you can go back to your family and protect them” He said looking angry and devastated.

“How can you say that? I’m not leaving you, and I will fight for you” he turned around and walked out of the school, while I stood here, completely alone.

“Jane!” I turned around and saw Jack coming running towards me. “Are you okay? I heard you fainted”

“I’m fine, don’t worry about it” he looked relived and smiled.

“Let’s go, or we’re going to get in trouble” he said holding my hand.

It felt a warm sensation and it felt right, I can learn how to love someone else.

But I don’t know if I made the right decision…
