“But,” Stella interrupted, “did the senator mention that he’s my father?” Her voice was worried.
Dennis shook his head slowly, “At the moment, the senator isn’t talking. He has been dumb since he was arrested.”
Stella placed her palms on her chest to calm her pumping heart, “Why did the IG want to
kill me?”.
“Your mum had an affair with him and blackmailed him into doing that.” He sighed,
“The IG felt his reputation was at stake and was forced to play along.”
Her nerves began to tighten and her heart was beating fast. That was exactly what Anabel
predicted. It meant Anabel hadn’t lied about anything; she hadn’t lied about her being the
daughter of the senator. She felt the world coming to an end and tears began coursing
down her straight cheeks. Dennis was looking at her with deep concern, “Why are you
crying?” He raised a hand, hesitated and started wiping her tears. Stella allowed his
soft palm as it went up and down her cheeks and finally her tears were gone.
Dennis moved his hands down to her arms, took her hands and held them gently in
his, “Why are you crying my dear?” His voice was such emotional that it ignited a
passion of longing
inside Stella.
She looked him in the eyes and brought her eyes to his hands, “I’m afraid the senator is my father.” She could hold her tears no longer and she began to shed tears.
Dennis stroked her arms, “I’m already aware of that.” Stella’s eyes shut up at him, baffled. He blinked, “Anabel said it and your mum has already affirmed that.” Stella’s tears grew profuse and Dennis was moved to the verge of
tears, “You’ve to pull yourself together. I know how painful it is but you’ve to get over it.
They all will pay for what they have done.
They will pay for the pains and agony they have caused you. You’ve to get on with your
life.” He paused thoughtfully and said, “I’ve a promise to make to you.” He smiled.
Stella managed to hold her stare on him,
“What’s that?”
“I’ll help you get through this.”
“How do you mean?” She wiped her tears.
“When you recover fully, I’ll tell you.”
Stella managed to smile, nodded and slept off.
Dennis removed his pair of goggles from his eyes and placed it on his laps, then he relaxed his back slowly on the seat and after five minutes, he was asleep. LOVE AFFAIRS 2
