Haywire – Episode 10
Episode 10.
.
.
A lot of weird thoughts started running through her mind at that moment. She started imagining her husband in bed with Tamarah. She became infuriated with those thoughts that her mood changed immediately.
She then decided to call the friend to find out more about what she had seen at her
place. She dialed the number.
“Hello Fostinah”
“Hello, morning”
“Morning how are you?”
“Am fine.”
“That’s good to hear”
“I have received your text. So are you sure its my husband you saw?”
“Yes, i know him and his vehicle”
“Did he come with the lady you mentioned?”
“The lady was already home. I just heard some laughing the moment he got into the house. Then there was silence only for him to come out approximately after some twenty minutes”
“Mmmm okay. Thank you so much”
“You are welcome. But who is this lady?”
“It’s his cousin”
“Oh cousins of nowadays are snakes and ruthless”
“Thank you will talk later.” She said hanging up the phone.
Fostinah stood there gazing at the wall but seeing nothing at it. She was deep in thoughts.
Just then Sister Bwalya popped up to where she was. “Is there an emergency home?” Sister Bwalya asked her. “No”
“Okay, you know that you don’t have to make calls on duty, why now?” “Sorry sister Bwalya, I received a text from my neighbor saying she saw my husband back home”
“And is there a problem with that?”
“She said she spent sometime in the house”
“I don’t see any problem there”
“His cousin, Tamarah is home. He doesn’t go home anyhow but why today when she is there?”
“It could be mere coincidence. Maybe he went to get something else”
“Mmmmmm maybe”
“Amd when did you make your neighbor to be your watchdog over your husband?”
“She is just helping me”
“No, she is not helping you. She is ruining you. See how her message has changed your mood. She has to mind her business”
“So you are saying she should have just seen that and not tell me?”
“What is it that she wants to achieve by telling you what she has told you?” “She wants my marriage to be safe”.
“No. Be very careful with people who tell you about sensitive issues concerning your partner. What do you think is the motive behind her telling you that? Do you think she wants you to be in peace? No. She knows that when you get to hear about it you will react and if what she supposedly saw is true, your marriage may come to an end.”
“So it’s wrong of her telling me such important information?”
“My dear, a friend who tells you that your husband is cheating on you doesn’t want your marriage to thrive. She wants it finished. Be warned.”
“So even if she finds him red handed she should just keep quiet?”
“She should mind her business if she really wants the best for you. As for me I never entertained people who came to me telling me about the cheating of my husband. I always told them that as long as am the main wife that doesn’t bother me and that it should be their last time telling me about the same nonsense. They seem like they are helping but bringing harm to you.” “You have a point here”
“Yes a friend who truly loves you will never tell you directly that your spouse is cheating on you. They will just make arrangements unbeknownst to you for you so that you catch for yourself.”
“Thank you. I was really boiling inside me. I will find out the truth”
“And you should stay calm if you really want to find the truth. I know it will be hard to stay calm but it will be worthy it. If you rush you will make him be very cautious and you will never catch him. Let him think you know nothing so that he can go loose if at all he is doing what you are saying.” “Okay sister”
“Good”
“Let me go and check on the patient on the last bed.”
“Okay, but if you are not yourself, you can knock off at lunch. I will cover you”
“Really?”
“Yes”
“Oh thank you so much.”
“You are welcome”
.
At lunch, Fostinah knocked off going home. She first passed by by the shopping mall to get some stuff missing home. She then drove home.
Tamarah was sitted outside in the yard under the shade reading a magazine as she sipped some juice. She put down her magazine seeing fostinah arriving home at mid day.
“Mulamu, is everything okay?” Tamarah asked her.
“Yeah, everything is fine”
“But why are you home this early”
“This is my home. I can come and go as I wish to”
“You people are really surprising me. First it was your husband who came back
home saying he forgot a report and now its you with no good reason. You are
playing with your jobs”
“Oh he came here?”
“Yes, he came to get a report and he was gone in no time”. “Oh okay. Come help me carry these plastics to the kitchen”
“The way I am looking you seriously want me to help you carry those plastics?”
“Tamarah if you think you can’t do anything here, the gate is still open. Leave!”
“Eeeeh has it come to that?”
“Yes it has”
“Fostinah I will just beat you up nicely and leave”
“You wish”
“I am coming your majesty”
Tamarah and Fostinah took the plastic bags to the kitchen as they continued teasing each other.
Fostinah went to change her uniform in her bedroom.
“If she really has something to do with my husband, why has she told me about his coming here? There must be nothing going on” she thought to herself. Her phone then rung. It was Peter.
“Hello honey”
“Babe, are you on lunch?”
“Yes but am home.”
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah just asked for an afternoon off”
“Look at you. It’s because you want to gossip with Tamarah.”
“Is it wrong?”
“No. Anyway, the director at the school for our kids called saying the school bus is down so parents should go and get their kids after knocking off for today only. Now I will be in a meeting and I might knock of late. Is it okay you go and pick them up?”
“Yes no problem. If I fail, Tamarah can go”
“Oh yeah. Okay, take care. Love you”
“Love you too”
Fostinah went to the living room to join Tamarah who was waiting for her. They went on chatting and rekindling their childhood.
“And Tamarah, there are two chores here. Preparing dinner or picking kids from school.”
“What happened to the school bus?”
“Its down and beyond their control”
“Okay, of course I will go get the kids.”
“So you can’t cook?”
“No, I can cook it’s just that you might never know where my future hubby could
be. Who knows if he is at that school”
“Look at you.”
When it was a few minutes to knocking off time for the kids, tamarah prepared herself to follow them. She made up herself and got clad in her favourite attire. Top and a pair of ladies denim jeans.
She got into her car and drove off to the school of the kids.
She got to the school and went to pack in the car park. She then headed to the directors office.
The director couldn’t help but admire her as she walked into the office. They exchanged greetings. The director was a gentleman perfectly aged for Tamarah who looked well built and kempt.
“How can I help you madam?” The director asked.
“I have come to pick up Tina, Esther and Jack Mulenga.”
“Okay, sorry to ask but who are they to you? Obviously, they ain’t your kids. I
know their parents”
“Am their aunt”
“Okay. They are really fortunate to have an aunt like you.”
“Thank you”
The director then called the teacher on duty to take the said kids to his office. In no time the kids were there.
“Hello guys” Tamarah said as she gave high five to all of them.
“You can just sign for me in the log book here” said the director which she did.
“We got to go now. Thank you”
“You are welcome”
“Let’s go guys” she said to the kids.
“Excuse me, could it be rude if I get your line? Maybe we could chat some” the director said.
“No problem” she said then getting her business card from her purse and giving it to her.
She then left as the director gazed on her where she was going with the kids. “Mmmm Public relations manager? Okay” the director said looking at Tamarah’s business card.
