8:07pm
‘Good morning beautiful, he said to his wife who had just opened her eyes. ‘Lord Justin you freaked me out, have you been sitting there for a while?’ she asked stretching her arm
‘What is wrong with looking at the most beautiful woman as she sleeps? Besides you looked peaceful so I didn’t want to disturb you.’ He responded getting the tray of food that was on the side and put it on her laps
‘I really need to get better because this kind of spoiling will make me obese.’ She whined opening the plates and letting the divinely scent fill her nostrils
‘I know a way that can release most of the energy.’ He said winking
‘Huh?’ she asked
‘Oh my word you are sick.’ She said finally getting it
‘Baby you are becoming too slow for my liking.’ He teased touching her face She bent her head just so she could sandwich his hand with her cheek and shoulder.
‘I love you Jason.’
‘And I will always love you Melisa.’ He responded
She dug into her food as he continued to look at her, after eight years she was still the one he loved.
‘Let me just call Oswald and find out if he managed to talk to the journalist.’ He said getting up
‘What journalist babe?’
‘Something to do with work.’ He said
She just smiled at him, his work was too sensitive and he was never to discuss it no matter what; even with her.
He blew her flying kisses before going to the study, it was still before mid-morning so he guessed Oswald wasn’t very busy.
‘Please tell me you talked to her.’ He said without a greeting
‘I am good thank you boss, how are you? And how is your wife feeling today?’ Oswald responded
Jason took a deep breath, he wasn’t much for pleasantries.
‘She is fine.’ He said trying so hard to keep it together
‘Okay so I called Ms. Mwila yesterday and she told me it was after work hours.’ ‘After work hours really? Does she have an idea how much time we are losing? I should have called her myself!’ he said with anger ‘Sir I think you are over reacting.’ Oswald defended
‘What do you mean over reacting, this issue is bigger than the both of us. The government is paying a lot of money just so the truth can be told to the public and all you can tell me is that she felt it was after working hours?’ he asked furiously Oswald knew it was best to keep quiet least this whole thing turned around on him. ‘I will call her now Sir.’ He said as calmly as possible ‘You better.’ He responded dropping the line
Oswald sighed, that wasn’t a good way to begin the day. He went to his last dialed contacts and found Ms. Mwila’s number. She picked up on the first ring.
‘Good morning, Ms. Mwila on the line.’ She responded as professionally as possible
‘I called you last night, concerning the article.’ Oswald began
‘Oh yes I remember, I am actually editing what I have already done right now. Kindly send me your email address so that I send it to you before it is published.’ ‘Awesome, I will do that just now.’ He said dropping the line
He sent the email to her and in less than ten minutes she forwarded the article to him, Oswald didn’t bother reading it but then forwarded it to Jason.
He was feeling pleased with himself that he had done something on time. He was just about to head out for lunch when he got a call from Jason.
‘I hope you loved it.’ He said with a huge grin
‘Oswald, did you take time to read through the article?’ Jason asked ‘Uhm.’
‘So you didn’t.’ he snapped
‘Well I actually thought since she said she was done with it, then it was.’ He paused
‘You don’t even know what is wrong with the article do you?’ Oswald was quiet.More interesting stories on Topster Stories App
‘I need you to go to Mark Anthony Printers right now, meet the lady and put her on speaker. I want to talk to her.’ He said dropping the line
Oswald shrugged, he had no idea what was wrong with the article but he was feeling really upset. Not because he had not gone through it but because this Ms. Mwila wasn’t doing her job.
He grabbed his car keys and drove to Mark Anthony Printers, he was fuming with rage imagining just the kind of lecture he was going to get from his boss. Each one of them was answerable to a greater power and he knew he stood a better chance of losing his job than Jason.
He stood by the reception and looked around, the receptionist was staring at him. ‘Sir do you have an appointment?’ she asked chewing on her gum
He looked at her then walked around the cubicles where other people were busy on their desks. He went where there was a line of offices and found one named Ms. A. Mwila.
‘Is she in?’ he asked Cathy, Azure’s secretary who was busy talking to a colleague ‘Yes, but she doesn’t have any appointment until after lunch.’ Cathy said absent minded
Oswald walked passed her and allowed himself inside.
She was on the phone when he got in, she looked at him without a word then continued taking down some things in her note pad.More interesting stories on Topster Stories App
Cathy came rushing in the office and by this time Azure had dropped the line
‘Ma’am I told him you didn’t have any appointment until lunch, but he just barged in here.’ She apologized knowing how Azure could get sometimes.
‘Leave us alone.’ She said
Cathy walked out and closed the door behind her
‘Oswald Mwanza, graduated top of your class in law school. You wanted to become a prominent lawyer but didn’t pass the bar, got depressed and later drowned yourself in alcohol. Your father well was highly connected, made you a co boy to one Minister and here you are today; assistant to the Chief Advisor of the President of the Republic of Zambia. What can I do for you?’ she asked
He swallowed hard, all information about him doing law had been wiped out.
Nobody knew that part of his life, not even Jason.
He looked at her as she crossed her hands facing him, red body con dress that hugged her figure, a brown lipstick with brown stilettos.
‘Can you please seat down?’ he asked politely
‘Now that’s a gentleman.’ She said her eyes piercing through him
