After the explosion has ended people that ran away came back including Mr Richards.
” Joseph” Mr Richards shouted as he entered.
Some other people also came back to check if there’s any survival.
joseph” Mr Richards shouted again as he was searching for him then he see him motionless on the ground.
Joseph….joseph” he called but Joseph couldn’t reply.
He quickly carry him and take him out of the stadium then to his car then drove to the hospital.
He drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital, then after a while he pulled into one hospital.
He parked and get down then took Joseph out of the car into the hospital, as the nurse saw him they rushed to him and lay Joseph on the trolley.
The doctor asked what happened and Mr Richards said it was an explosion, then they push him to the ICU to operate on him.
Mr Richards was restless as he stood there praying for Joseph life then his phone started ringing and see that it’s his wife.
hello” he said as he picked the call.
hello dear, I awaited your call to give me update but didn’t see……what’s happening?” Mrs Richards asked.
there was a bomb at the stadium” Mr Richards said.
oh my God…..hope no one gets hurt?……hope everyone is fine?” Mrs Richards asked concernedly.
there was an explosion and unfortunately Joseph was hurt, we are at the hospital just now” Mr Richards said sadly.
Oh My God, Oh no no no………is he alright?” Mrs Richards asked.
the doctor is operating on him, I’m waiting for their report” Mr Richards said.
where are you?…….which hospital?” she asked.
Elliot medico care” Mr Richards said.
okay…..I’m coming right away” Mrs Richards said.
okay dear” he replied then ended the call.

(Richards Residence)

After Mrs Richards ended the call with her husband, she changed her cloth then put on another one.
She grabbed her bag and went down and when her kids saw her they were confused.
Mom, are you going out?” Katie said.
yes dear, joseph is at the hospital” Mrs Richards and they gasp loudly in shock.
how mom?……is it the explosion?” Vanessa asked.
yes dear, he was able to save everyone but he got hurt” Mrs Richards said.
Vanessa, I need you to stay here with your siblings….i have to go” Mrs Richards said.
no mom, we are coming with you” Vanessa said.
” yes mom, we are coming” Paul said.
alright then get up… Let’s go” Mrs Richards said then they sprang up and went outside.
The all entered the car and Mrs Richards drive off to the hospital.
As they reached the hospital then got down and ran inside, they saw Mr Richards at a corner and they went to meet him.
Daddy” Katie called as they went to meet him.
heyy, you are here……you brought them?” Mr Richards asked his wife.
yeah….they insisted they wanted to come with me” Mrs Richards said.
Dad how is he?” Vanessa asked.
I’m still waiting for the doctor” he said.
is he going to be okay?” Katie asked.
he will be fine darling…..don’t worry” Mr Richards assured.
how did this even happen?……how did he get hurt?” Mrs Richards asked.
No one believed him when he said the bomb was there, the security even beat him cause he won’t let anyone enter the stadium, so when the police arrived they told him to show them where bomb is then someone mistakenly stepped on it, the next thing we know the bomb went off” Mr Richards explained.
I pray he’s fine” Mr Richards said.

Joseph’s POV
.
I opened my eyes and looked around and looked around only to see that I’m in the hospital.
The Richards family are also here in the room, katie is the first to see me.
He’s awake” she shouted and they all looked to my side.
Joseph, how are you?” Mrs Richards said as they got to me.
I’m..uhm…fine” I manage to said.
are you feeling any pain?” Mr Richards asked.
No….I’m okay” I said.
I’m glad you are okay” Mr Richards said.
me too” I said.
hope no one gets hurt” I said.
only one person died, the guard that stepped on the bomb, the police officers were injured as well” he said.
how did the bomb got there?…..who would do such a thing when they knew there’s going to be a competition?” I asked.
they checked the CCTV cameras of the stadium and they saw some men planting the bomb, the camera didn’t show their face, so they are still no where to be found” Mr Richards said.
Joseph, you are now popular” Paulina said.
yes, everyone is talking about you” Katie added.
what are they talking about?” I asked.
some student recorded how they are beating you when you are preventing them to enter the stadium and the video went viral” Vanessa said and I was surprised.
here it is” she added showing me the video on her phone.
woww” I exclaimed.
you are a total badass” Paul said.
everyone is talking about you…..even the news picked it” Vanessa said.
you are now a superstar, a celebrity” Katie said excitedly then the doctor came in.
woww…..i can see our Hero is awake” the doctor said as she entered.
how are you feeling?” the doctor asked.
at the stadium I couldn’t move but now I can feel it” I said.
that was because of the explosion, it cause your brain to be dormant for a while, your brain couldn’t react immediately which is why you couldn’t” the doctor explained.
yeah I guess so” I said.
what you did at that place is a very heroic thing to do…….you are a Savior to those kids and everyone in that place” the doctor said.
thank you doctor” I said.
No….you thank you” the doctor said and I smiled.
so doctor, when will he be discharged?” Mr Richards asked.
he will be fully discharged in two days time” the doctor said.
thank you doctor” Mrs Richards said.
you are welcome” the doctor said then went out.

Everyone have heard about the brave boy who saved lives of a lot of students at the stadium.
The video went more viral than anyone expected, everyone in the country has heard about him.
Everyone wanted to meet him, the ministers, the senators all of them wanted to meet this Nigeria Hero everyone is talking about.
Some people heard heard he is at Elliot medico care and also that he’s going to be discharged today.
The reporters has been waiting since the day before for them not to miss the opportunity to meet him.
A lot of people have gathered at the front of the hospital, also lots of people are at the entrance with cameras and mics in their hands.
Joseph is ready to leave and Mr Richards went to settle the discharge paper.
Vanessa and the kids are at home waiting for their return.
The government send some security agents to him at the hospital to make sure he got home safely.
A lot of people are outside there waiting for you” the doctor said to joseph.
is there no way to send them away? ” Joseph asked.
no you can’t, they are well wishers…..you should be proud” Mrs Richards said.
uhn…..okay then I’m ready” Joseph said.
” okay then let’s go” Mr Richards said then they went out of my ward.
As they are going out of the hospital people were staring at them then they started clapping.
“so na me all this people dey clap for……ahh….my life Don good oo” Joseph thought.
As joseph came out of the hospital people screamed out in joy as they see him and he was shocked with the mammoth of people he saw right outside.
” so na me all this people find come” he thought.
He saw them waving at him and her waved back at them, the agents create a way for him as they manage to go to their car.
” ehhn…Me?…….the son of an ordinary Fish Monger…….GOD IS GOOD” he thought.
“Mr Joseph Edwards, it’s so good to see you in good health, how are you feeling now?” one of the reporters asked.
” I’m doing good….thank you” he said.
” I’m glad you are okay Mr Edwards…….you see your name has been in everyone’s mouth cause of the act of bravery you did for those children, infact everyone is calling you Nigeria Hero……..what do you say about that?” another reporter said and everyone was silent.
” I’m no Hero, I’m just like every other young boy, I saw an opportunity to help those kids and I did, even if I see anything like that again……i will still go ahead and save them……thank you” joseph said then continue walking into the car.
” can you believe that…..he said if he saw an opportunity like that again, he will save them again, now I
know this boy truly deserve to called Niger Hero” the reporter said.
Joseph entered the car and they drove off, followed by Mr Richards car.

The Agents and Mr Richards drove in to the compound then Vanessa and the rest came out of the house.
They parked the car and Joseph got down and they went to hug him.
you’re now a celebrity” Paul said.
really?” Joseph said.
yeah. We saw you on the TV just now” Katie said.
okay kids, give him a break….let him enter and rest” Mrs Richards said and they entered.
Throughout the day the neighbors came to greet him, even those he haven’t seen before they all came to greet for his bravery act.

Some men arrived at their house and they were wondering what they are here for.
The governor and the governing board sent us” they said.
okay…..please come in” Mr Richards said and they entered.
They said the governor told them to present a gift to Joseph” they said then they started working on their laptops.
They asked Joseph same personal questions and some other things then after they are through they took a picture of him.
Then after they are through they gave Junior a cheque book and some other things.
we just open an personal account for your and just as the governor said, and also it has been credited as well” they said.
ha ha credited, who credit am?” Joseph asked.
the board and some other ministers and senators, love you bravery act and they all compensated you for it” they said again and Joseph was surprised.
wait……how much is there?” Joseph asked and the man smiled.
10bn naira” he said and they all gasp loudly.
oh my God” they exclaimed loudly.
only me? ” joseph shouted.
and also the governor wanted you to come to the governor house, he wants to present you an award” he said.
aaahhh……i will meet the governor?” Joseph said in surprise.
“he will expecting you in three days” the man said.
if you don’t mind, we will take our leave now” the man said then they turn to leave.
thank you oo” Joseph said.
They are all so excited and they celebrated till the night.
The Next day, Mr Richards went to the village to pick up granny Richards and Joseph mother.
He brought them to his house and they are very happy to see them. Joseph hug his mother happily and they entered.
The day after the governor sent a car to come pick him and Mr Richards and his family followed behind.
They went to the governor’s house at Marina in Lagos, As they got to the place there are reporters waiting for him there also.
They got down and the agents take him to the governor’s office.
aaahhh……the Hero is here” the governor said as he entered and Joseph couldn’t believe who is sitting before him.
Governor Babajide san-olu” I said in amazement then then quickly went to prostrate before him.
c’mon stand up….stand up” the governor said smiling and Joseph did.
I’m very proud of you Joseph and I applaud you of your courage” the governor said.
thank you sir” Joseph said.
let’s not keep the press waiting, let’s go to the hall and get started” the governor said then they walked out of the office.
They entered the hall and everyone clapped, some are taking pictures while some are recording.
I know we are all happy to see the Hero here with us today, his bravery act and courage, and also his pure heart is what brought him to this stage.
He is indeed a Hero to our country and with this I’m presenting Mr Joseph Edwards with this Award as Nigeria Hero” the governor said handling the award to him and everyone clapped.
All of Lagos is grateful to you and decided to give you scholarship to continue your education in the United States of America” He said and everyone shouted and clapped.
They gave the Mic to Joseph to say something but he was too happy.
uhn….i..i thank everyone for the love they shown me for being here, I want to dedicate this Award to my lovely Mother, she’s the Hero of my life…….i love you mom” he said.
thank you all” he said then left the podium.
Everyone clapped for him then went to thank the governor and some other people present in the hall.
Then he went to hug his family.

One thing I want us to learn in Joseph’s life is that he didn’t keep his gift to himself.
He decided to help people with it, starting from eating sacrifice, to saving granny Richards which brought him to Lagos.
If you have a talent or gift use it and also use it for other not just for yourself.
God give us the gift for a reason and the reason will come out later.
