“I hate your good memory.” Joseph grumbled.

“Hater.” Tobi shrugged.

“Honestly, your life right now can be a soap opera.” Joseph joked. “The Weird Life of Tobi Ademi.”

“That’s the best you could do?” Tobi asked, rolling his eyes.

“Shut up.”

Tobi laughed as he reached for his ringing phone. He stared at the caller ID in confusion.

It was Funmi. Funmi never called him.

He answered the call and by the end of it, he sprang up from his chair hurriedly.

“Whoa! What is it?” Joseph asked, standing up in worry.

“Abena’s water just broke. They’re headed to the hospital now. I need to go.” Tobi said frantically, getting his wallet and phone.

“So she was in Funmi’s house. Sly .” Joseph said, nodding to himself.

Tobi just rolled his eyes and ran out of the house.

“Dude! You’re not wearing shoes, and you didn’t even take your car keys.

See this mumu.” Joseph called after him.

Tobi ran back into the house, looking for his shoes. He hurriedly put them on, and then went into the kitchen. He returned with his car keys and a bunch of bananas.

“The baby bag. I almost forgot the baby bag.” He muttered to himself, going up the stairs and into the nursery. He returned with a yellow bag which had a few clothes, blankets, pampers, baby wipes, and other things that the babies would need before coming home.

Abena had packed the bag, two months earlier, because she was afraid that she would forget and then have nothing to wear for her children when she gives birth to them.

“I’m going to be a father.” Tobi muttered as he walked out of the house. He unlocked his car and threw the bag into it, and the bananas.

“You knew that nine months ago.” Joseph rolled his eyes but his friend just ignored him.

He got into his car and shut the door, just as he was about to turn on the ignition, Joseph knocked on his window. He rolled it down and looked at his friend with a raised eyebrow, but Joseph said:

“Go get your family, and my god children.”

Tobi was driving fast.

Really fast.

Faster than he did when Joseph had an accident.

Faster than he did when Abena was kidnapped.

Faster than he did, ever.

Pulling up into the parking lot of the hospital, he threw his keys into the hands of a security guard and ran into the hospital.

He went to the nurse at the desk and gave her the baby bag. She paled at the sight of Tobi Ademi, since he was actually the owner of the hospital.

“Which doctor is on ground to attend to Miss. Omotosho when she comes?” He asked.

“Doctor Uche.” She replied, avoiding his gaze.

“A man?” The nurse nodded. What happened to Doctor Christy?” Tobi frowned at the idea of having a man look at Abena in that place .

“She’s ill sir. And Doctor Uche is the best one around sir.” She explained and Tobi nodded hesitantly. The nurse looked at the baby bag with a raised eyebrow.

“Keep it for me.” He ordered and was about to ask her if Abena had arrived. But she hadn’t, because he saw her in a wheelchair with two nurses trying to calm her down. Funmi followed behind them with a worried expression.

Abena looked up and immediately, she grinned, irrespective of the pain from her contractions. She was sweaty, wearing a loose dress with a flower pattern, and her hair was pulled into a messy ponytail although it was still sticking out in different directions. She seemed to be gripping the hand of one of the nurses, because the woman looked like she was about to cry.

Tobi walked towards them quickly and knelt down by the wheelchair.

“Sir-”

“Five minutes.” He ordered, and they immediately looked away.

“Abena. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for everything. I’m sorry for the way I treated you when we first met. I’m sorry for all those stupid rules that I gave you. I’m sorry for calling you an incubator that time.

I’m sorry for not telling the world about you the first time. I’m sorry for not standing up to you when my aunty and cousins were being rude.” He said, looking at her with pleading eyes.

“I’m sorry too. I shouldn’t have given up on us so easily, that was a stupid thing to do” She replied with a sad smile.

“I don’t blame you. The attention that comes with being with me can be overwhelming.” He said with a small smile.

“I know.” Her contraction had passed, but she knew that another one would come. Recommend you to download Topster Stories App for Exclusive Access To Erotic and Romantic stories

“Come back.” He blurted out. “Come back into my life. Come back and rearrange my furniture. Come back and play loud music in the middle of the night. Come back and wake me up in the most annoying ways possible. Come back and talk too much. Come back and leave your dishes in the sink, but not all the time.”

She grinned in reply.

“Come back and watch late night movies with me. Come back and leave your messes everywhere. Come back and eat all the food in my fridge. Come back and cook your amazing jollof rice and spaghetti Bolognese. Come back and just, love me.”

“Tobi-”

“Wait. Let me finish jorh. Before you came into my life, I was… content, not happy, with the way my life was. I had a routine, I was predictable. I always knew what I was going to do. I had a plan. I knew what I was eating the next day, and where I was going to be at every point in time. I never went on holidays, never watched late night movies, never made sandwiches in the middle of the night, never went to the beach, never had… fun.”
