Ann did traveled home but on getting to the palace she met Unice bantering with the guards in the palace.

 

“What’s going on here?” She asked while getting down from her car.

 

“Adaobi please hear me out, have been coming here since the past one week” Unice begged frantically.

 

“Hey what’s wrong is there any problem?” She asked politely.

 

“Nope I really want to see you and beg you” Unice begged.

 

“Ney you are embarrassing yourself come on inside” she said gesturing her inside.

 

“Please your highness forgive me and my father, please we are so sorry,am so sorry” Unice begged on her knees after they entered inside.

 

 

“But Unice what are you begging me for,mlam angry at my father’s family for killing him,am only angry at you because you tried to get my boyfriend killed” she said looking intently at her.

 

“Emm about that am sorry for that too please forgive me I won’t go after Max again please” Unice begged.

 

“Is that why you are kneeling down and begging, nah that bad am not like some god or what so ever, have forgiven you” she smiles at her.

 

“Thank you thank you thank you” Unice said.

 

“Hey stand up” she said.

 

“Um Princess please can I hug you?” Unice asked.

 

“You mean you want to hug me?” She asked scratching her head .

 

“Can we leave the hugging part?” She asked.

 

“That means you haven’t forgiven me” Unice said.

 

“Ok ” she said pulling her hurriedly into a hug.

 

“Am sorry for bullying you while we were Young” Unice said.

 

“You are all forgiven” she replied.

 

“What about your new family do you like them?” Unice asked.

 

“Like? You said like?” She asked smiling. “I love them, when you were bullying me when I was young had it been my sister was there she would show you hell that you will regret bullying me” she replied.

 

“Well Max did show us hell, you see anything we did to you he always come back to beat us up, he tried it the first time I and my sister all beat him up so he results to another way of punishing us” Unice explained.

 

“How?” She asked excitedly.

 

“He cuts our favorite clothes,toys shoes and everything we like he destroyed everything and he warned us not to come near you again” Unice said.

 

“Wow” Ann smiled “can you now see he is meant for me from the beginning”she concluded.

 

“Yeah” Unice rolled her eyes disgustingly.

 

“I saw that” Ann said.

 

“Saw what?” Unice asked confused.

 

“Nothing” she replied.

TWO DAYS LATER

 

“Good evening ” he greets Amaka the head maid.

 

“Good evening your highness” she greeted back.

 

“Where is the Princess?” He asked.

 

“She’s in her room” she bowed and left

 

He walked into her room and he met her sleeping peacefully on the bed.

 

He walked slowly to the feet of the bed, sat down close to her face. He looked at her face lovingly.

 

He decided to play a trick on her. He peppered kisses on her face but she just move away from him muttering incoherent words.

 

He tried again but it seems she is enjoying her sleep , he took off his clothes and got into the bed with her, he laid her head on his chest and she smuggled close to him , they both slept off.

 

“Ohh I slept so long” she said stretching her self on the bed.

 

She looked around the room and her eyes met with some clothes on the floor.

 

 

“What the hell happened here?” She whispered looking around the room. She got up from the bed, brushed her teeth and walked down the stairs.

 

She was suprised to find the whole palace quiet.

 

“What’s wrong?” She asked herself “Amaka! Amaka! Head maid!” She called.

 

She saw a shadow walked out of the kitchen and she gripped her heart fearfully.

 

“Who are you?” She asked in fear.

 

Another shadow ran in front of her.

 

“Who is there?, Amaka?” She yelled.

 

A shadow walked slowly on the staircase towards her.

 

“Don’t come near me!” She said pointing her hands at the person.

 

Slowly the person got on their knees

 

“Hey why are you kneeling down?, Who are you?” She asked.

 

“Have known you since twenty four years ago, and have been out of your life since eighteen years ago, what am saying today I should have say it since six years ago but circumstances couldn’t warrant it”.

 

Suddenly a light shown on her

 

“What’s happening?”.

 

“Marietta have loved you since eighteen years ago”.

 

“Max!” She exclaimed happily rushing to hug him.

 

“No don’t come near me” he yelled.

 

“What is wrong?” She asked fearfully.

 

“Hmmm” he shakes his head.

 

“Ok” she said with tears spilling out of her face.

 

“Marietta, Adaobi, Annabelle, Richard Lawson betrothed or not Will you grant me my wish and do me the honor of being my wife?”.

 

 

“What?” She asked her mouth hanging wide open.

 

“Princess say something, my legs hurts” he says.

 

“Yes” she snapped out of her daze “yes I will” she said happily.

 

And he slipped the ring into her hands and she hugged him happily.

 

People started clapping as the light in the palace was restored back.

 

“Congratulations Princess” the guards and the maids greeted.

 

“Thank you” she said shyly.

 

“Get dressed we are going for a date” he said.

 

“Date?” She smiled “that sounds interesting” she said walking into her room happily.

 

“This place is so beautiful” she gushed.

 

“Yes I know, were you scared then?” He asked.

 

“I was scared to my wit” she replied picking up some flowers. “Wow how do you know I love gardens?”.

 

“Well when we were Young, we use to sneak out of the palace together to play it was one of our escape mission that we found this place, then you said you would love to make this place a garden, course the queen had a little garden in the palace” he explained picking up a flower and sticking it in her hair.

 

“Wow I don’t know, does the garden still exists?” She asked hopefully.

 

“Sorry to disappoint you but no the palace has been extended to garden”.

 

“Hmmm” she replied sadly.

 

“But” he said looking into her eyes “I got this for you”.he said gesturing around.

 

“Wait? Are you kidding?” She asked in shock.

 

 

“Am not love, after you went missing I told my dad to secure this place for you that every thing should be in your name because this is where we spent most of our time away from the guards and all” he explained.

 

“Uhh” she looked at his face lovingly “you are so sweet” she Said kissing him.

 

“I love you” he said.

“Ann how una be” Unice asked with fake excitement.

 

“If you are asking how I am, then am cool” Ann replied using her hand to dress her hair.

 

“What is that?” Unice asked pointing to the ring on her finger.

 

“Max proposed two days ago” she replied shaking her fingers.

 

“What?” Unice exclaimed.

 

“What? Why are you sounding so surprised,with or without him proposing I will still get married to him” she replied.

 

“Oh sorry” Unice spat bitterly. “I will have to be on my way see you in the evening” Unice said and walked out of the house. While Ann shrugged and starts eating her food.

 

EVENING

 

“Princess the food is ready” a maid called and Ann walked to the dining and sat down.

 

“Please bring the food” she said while the maid set up the table.

 

“Who is there?” She asked.

 

“It’s miss Unice”.

 

“Oh ok” she replied opening the lid of the plate “wow this looks appetizing” she said picking her spoon to scoop the food suddenly she stopped.

 

She looks intently at the food

 

“Amaka!” She called.

 

“Yes my Princess” Amaka replied.

 

“Call the maids that prepared this food” she said and Amaka went inside to bring a maid.

 

“Answer me who prepared this food and who are you have not seen you before” she snapped.

 

“My princess am the one that prepared it ” the maid replied.

 

“Lies” she yelled “I will ask you again before I do something drastic to you who the hell prepared this food?” She snapped angrily.

 

“Please spare me my princess it was prepared by miss Unice” the maid replied.

 

“Unice? Interesting call her here” she said to Amaka “and you” she said pointing to the maid pack your stuff and get out of the palace, that’s the beginning of rubbish, when did Unice starts preparing my food,get out” she snapped.

 

Unice walked into the room and Ann gestured to her to sit down.

 

“Princess what’s the problem?” She asked innocently.

 

And Ann smiled at her facade

 

“Nothing much my sister, join me as we eat” Ann said pushing her plate in front of her.

 

“Am not eating” Unice said.

 

“Why?” She asked.

 

“Am not just eating is that a problem?” She asked with a raised eyebrow.

 

“Oh sis you don’t want me to do it the hard way do you?” Ann asked through gritted teeth.

 

“What do you mean by that?” Unice asked.

 

“Just eat the damn food or I will break this plate on your head, you can try me” she commands angrily.

Unice took the spoon fearfully and started eating she hadn’t taken four spoons.

 

She started groaning in pain .

 

Ann stood up alarmed, “Unice what happened?” She cried.

 

“My…… Stomach……..is on………fire” she groaned with tears spilling out of her face.

 

“Guards! Guards!!!” Ann yelled

 

“Marietta…… please….. forgive……..me……… I ……was……. only……. following…….

 

instructions…….” She said and gave up the ghost.

 

“Unice! Unice!” Ann yelled shaking her ” please don’t die, please don’t die” she cried.

 

“Amaka bring my phone” she yelled.

 

“Hello Jessica” she said.

 

“Princess what’s wrong why are you crying?” Jessica asked.

 

 

“Inform your parents and all members of the family that there will be an emergency meeting in the palace now” she said and hang up.
