Overlook Love – Episode 8

PART 8

 

 

She went down slowly and sat on the pavements with her legs straight. I thought she had lost her mind. I bent down and tried to pull her up bit she refused to stand up. I needed help because my skirt was too short and bending down longer was very uncomfortable for me. Tess was losing it, I thought she could handle the dossier well, but either I was wrong or she needed a little bit of drama to be able to calm down. Cameron recognized me too and stopped cursing. I was in the middle of mild chaos. I understood Tess well, in fact if it were me, my reaction would have gone viral worldwide. Cheating had broken my heart in pieces and that is why I didn’t like attachments. But I wasn’t a hit and run type either, I was still thinking of Travis.

 

CAMERON: Hi Jade, it has been ages. Is your friend okay? She has hit my car so badly.

 

I gave him a sorry hug so that things don’t escalate.

 

JADE: Hey, it has been long time I agree. Sorry about your car, my friend here just received some bad news and I think she in shock.

 

CAMERON: You shouldn’t have let her drive in that state.

 

JADE: I didn’t know she was running out to come and drive. I ran after her but it was too late.

 

CAMERON: So what’s the bad news, she looks hurt.

 

I couldn’t tell Cameron the truth. The issue was personal, so I had to kill Tess father twice.

 

JADE: She just lost her dad and she is an only child, so I think it has hit her so badly.

 

CAMERON: You need to take her home. We will talk about the car repairs later. You still work for Tyson?

 

JADE: Yes, I do.

 

 

CAMERON: Say hello to him. Call me sometime we hook up for a drink.

 

JADE: Of course I will. Thanks.

 

Cameron went back to his car and left me to deal with Tess. He still looked very handsome, in fact he had up graded his looks so much from the last time I saw him. He had asked me out but I declined after Tyson told me that his wife was a Python. I was glad he left. A few people were still standing there looking at Tess, I had no option but to bed her to stand up and assure her that all shall be well. Her behavior had been fueled by alcohol.

 

JADE: Please Tess, just get up we go back to the club and talk.

 

TESS: I can’t go back there, I need to go home and sleep Jade. I am so mad right now. All these years, being raised by a woman I thought was mother! That is what is hurting me the most.

 

JADE: Let’s go and talk it over at my apartment. If you go to yours, Ryan will find you there and I am sure you can’t talk to him right now.

 

She listened and finally stood up. I help her get into the car and forced her to park it properly. I snatched the keys from her to make sure that she doesn’t drive off without me. There rear light was badly damaged. Thank God Cameron knew me, if it was someone else, we would have ended at the police station. What was important then, was making sure she was safely home.

 

JADE: Wait right here. I am going to settle the bill, pick up my things and come back we go.

 

TESS: Jade

 

JADE: Yes, dear.

 

TESS: I want to die.

 

JADE: You are too pretty to die. God is not ready for a beauty like you in heaven.

 

You will confuse the men there. I am coming back.

 

I left her in the car and I became the center of attraction as I entered the club. All eyes were on me but I didn’t care. I had to do what I did, and if my pant was too white for them then so be it. The waiter had cleared our table and kept the remaining whisky. She didn’t run after us because we were regulars there and she knew we would not go without settling the bill. I settled, put the remaining drink in my bag. Another waiter brought me my shoes which I chose to carry in my hands because my feet already hurt so much.

 

Tess was seated in the car silently. I got into the co-driver’s seat and I gave her the keys. She didn’t say anything. She started the car and drove out of the parking lot slowly and carefully. She looked calmer and composed. So I thought.

 

TESS: Where are going?

 

JADE: Where do you want to go?

 

TESS: Let’s go to your apartment. I need to read that report under bright light. Thereafter I will know how to handle Ryan and Raksha. As of now I don’t know whether to call her mum or aunt. Are sure this report is legit?

 

JADE: I already told you that job was done by a CID. He can’t fabricate all that. And at least I saw your mum leaving Ryan’s shop, so obviously they know each other deeply.

 

TESS: Do you know what I am thinking off right now?

 

JADE: No, tell me.

 

TESS: Ryan moaning on top of my mum. I think we should make a video of them and blackmail them with it. What do you think.

 

I had to laugh at his proposal. I knew he was joking and was saying all that because she was angry. It didn’t have to come to all that. She didn’t have to be melodramatic about the whole thing. When someone is out to hurt you and you

 

 

find out before they do so, don’t give them the pleasure of seeing you hurt, affected or miserable. Give them your piece of mind then shut them out totally. Don’t even wait for their apologies, just walk away and put them in Block Z.

 

JADE: Maybe they just kissed and have never slept together. Stop giving yourself headache by overthinking. Imagine if you refused to meet me today you’d have lost a whole million. You see how God works in miraculous ways.

 

TESS: Trust me, they have. You don’t know that woman and I am not even surprised that she dated my boss. She got me that job by the way.

 

JADE: But you told me your boss doesn’t do sex.

 

TESS: Maybe Raksha raped him and scared the shit out him. No wonder he fears penetration. I will confront him even if I have to lose my job. I have milked enough money from him to start a good business.

 

JADE: Don’t do it Tess, you will kill that old man.

 

TESS: let him die, who cares.

 

She was hurt, I could tell from her voice. One minute it was loud and clear the next it was coarse and I could hardly hear what she was saying. We reached my apartment and she fell on the couch and lay there like a small baby. She rang Skyla and told her she was with me and that she would be a bit late. She also told her not to open the door for anyone and that included Ryan. I excused myself to take a bath. While in the bathroom I heard her on the phone shouting at someone. Trust me, I came out of the bathroom with soap all over my body to go calm her down.

 

TESS: So what if I am out drinking! I am an independent woman and you can’t control me. I am not your wife and stop acting like my husband. I will leave here when I am done, even if it is tomorrow morning.

 

Waaah! She threw the phone on the whole and I saw it spilt in small pieces. One piece bounced and hit my wet forehead. It was the sim card. I stood there like a stature, water and soap dripping on the carpet.

 

JADE: Who was that?

 

TESS: That Twat Ryan. He is asking me why I am not home yet. To make it worse, he demanding that I go, give him the cheque then come back to the club and drink if that is what I want.

 

JADE: You could have ignored his call.

 

TESS: Jade, I am so mad right now. I want to rip off his chest, remove his heart and cut it into small pieces.

 

JADE: In short you want to kill him.

 

TESS: Yes, very much.

 

JADE: You can’t coz you are not a killer. You dumping him and not giving him that money is what’s gonna kill him. Once you tell him what you know, he will avoid you.

 

TESS: Jade, I know this is your house, but you standing there totally na.ked with soap all over your body is not the kind of sight I need right now. I might do things you don’t expect and then you judge me wrongly. Go finish your shower and then come we talk. Kindly come dressed, your figure is a huge distraction.

 

JADE: There a phone in my room that I hardly use. Put your sim card and use it for now. Skyla might look for you.

 

I left for the bathroom as she went to my bedroom to take the phone. I didn’t scrub myself well. I didn’t know what Tess would do next. When I went to my bedroom she was lying on the bed. She had put the phone on the charger. I dressed up and sat beside her. She didn’t say anything. She just looked at me and smiled, it was a very plastic smile. I wanted to hug her so tightly and tell her that all shall be well. I held myself back. She sat up and took one of my pillows and held it on her chest.

 

TESS: This is the worst day of my life Jade. Can you take out that report and read it out loudly for me please. I need to understand the whole movie.

 

 

I did as she said and we went through it line by line. After I was done. She started to cry. I didn’t tell her to stop crying. I left her there alone to cry as I went to make coffee. From the kitchen I could hear her sobbing and talking to herself. It reminded me of my break up with my ex-lover. I thought the world had closed in on me. I literally saw myself dying and I couldn’t breathe. He was my first true love. The man who broke my virginity. After two years on dating abundantly he came one night and asked me for goodbye sex. I thought he was going on a business trip. I was wrong, he was dumping me because I was not submissive and too overwhelming in bed. It hurt me so badly. This is a man I had married a million times in my dreams. Who says that a woman is overwhelming in bed. Little did I know that there was a Cinderella on the sides. They got married six months later. I attended the wedding without invitation just to give him tension. He sweated all the time, not knowing what I was up to.

 

Four months after the wedding. Cinderella slept with his best friend and they ran off together. He was left alone like a chicken in the rain. I had the laughed laugh when he rang me and told me what had happened. I told him to go to hell and wait for me there. I reminded him that I was still overwhelming in bed and couldn’t submit to a fool who hadn’t mastered the art of love making.

 

JADE: Tess, I know your mind is filled with so much right now. But you must see the positive side of it. Your 1 million is intact. I know you were head over heels in love with Ryan and probably still is, but it is you to decide what step to take next.

 

TESS: I just want him dead Tess. Dead and buried. I can be in the same town with that man.

 

JADE: What about your mother.

 

TESS: She is not my mother and I will never go to her house again. I am glad Skyla already decided never to go there, otherwise she would ask me a lot of questions.

 

JADE: Are you going to confront them coz I am sure Ryan will keep calling you for the cash.

 

 

TESS: I will tell him I am expecting another million in three days, so he should wait I give him at least 1.5M or 2M. The problem is, will I be able to pretend until we hatch a good plan and burst both of the same at the same time!

 

JADE: You mean you want to burst them both when they are together?

 

TESS: Ooh yes, that would make me feel so good. How much did you pay the CID.

 

JADE: I can’t tell you that.

 

TESS: Tomorrow call him, double the price and tell him to find out one more thing.

 

JADE: What?

 

TESS: If those two are banging each other.

 

JADE; You don’t need a CID for that. Pay me that money and I will do that job for you.

 

TESS: How, Ryan hates you

 

JADE: But your mum doesn’t. And she is a loser talker. I will pay her a visit, starting talking ill of you and with the way she swallows wine like a fish swallows water, I am sure she will say something to that effect. I know how it will get to that story

 

TESS: Can you record it?

 

JADE: Definitely

 

I talked her out of impulse reaction. She had to try as much as she could to act nice and be her usual self and not let both Ryan and Raksha know that something was up. She called Ryan and told him she was sorry for the outburst, she lied to him that I had pissed her off again and that is why she was in a foul mood when he rang. She had put him on loud speaker and he told her that I was jealous of them

 

 

and she shouldn’t meet with me ever again. He told her that women like me, with no relationships were the worst breed to hang around because we lacked empathy. That was all bullshit just to get Tess to give him the cash. When she told him about giving him 2M, he was over the moon with “babe that’s why I love” nonsense. I felt like breaking his neck through the phone. Tess was just smiling.

 

TESS: I didn’t know such men exist in this world. How you pretend to love a woman, sleep with her almost daily just to con her. Can’t you just straight ask for money without involving feelings! He will pay for tampering with my heart.

 

JADE: I agree darling. We are in this together. It is getting late and Skyla is alone.

 

Finish your coffee then I see you off.

 

TESS: I don’t feel like being alone Jade. Why don’t you take you clothes for work tomorrow then we go spend at my place? I promise not to touch you.

I packed my overnight bag and we went to her apartment. Skyla was so happy to see me. She was a nice girl and I adored her. We couldn’t sleep until very late. We hatched more than 10 plans on how to deal with Raksha and Ryan, the double R. One plan stood out and we settled on it.

 

And like Tess had promised, she didn’t touch me.
