Overlook Love – Episode 4

PART 4

 

I was in total shock I didn’t believe what I was looking at. An office is supposed to have a table, the bosses chair and at least two visitors’ chairs and probably a filing cabinet and a safe. But what I was looking at was a 5 by 6 neatly spread bed and a side stool with a bottle of perfume and a pack of condoms. The bed sheet on top was a bit wrinkled, so it had been used recently or a few minutes before I came in. Was Ryan sleep with both mother and daughter? If so, how could Raksha be a party to it? She knew Ryan and Tess were dating and probably had made love a thousand times in that short period. I didn’t want to make any conclusion yet, but I needed answers as soon as possible. It wasn’t my business after all and my aim

 

 

was not to meddle in their family affairs, but I had to save my best friend from a messy heart-break and loss of cash.

 

As I stood there with my hands on my waist imagining, what happened or had been happening on that bed behind Tess’ back, Ryan came and pulled me out of the room by grabbing my hand. I didn’t resist. I had seen enough to raise a million questions. He pulled me to the counter as the two attendants watched in amusement. Thank God there were no customers. In my head I could hear Raksha screaming at him to push harder. Damn!

 

RYAN: Are you out of your mind? You don’t just barge into my office like that without my permission or a search warrant from a judge.

 

JADE: Is that an office or lodging?

 

RYAN: That is your opinion and deeply none of your business. You never saw that room, you hear me Jade? You never saw that room at all.

 

JADE: Do I look blind to you Ryan? Look here, you can’t intimidate of threaten me. I know what I saw and what I do with that information is totally none of your business too. I am not your regular girl next door and I don’t get cowed easily.

 

RYAN: Are you still bitter about that simple kiss that I gave you. Come on Jade, it has been months and I am sure you have been kissed many times after that. Don’t spoil for Tess out of jealousy. You weren’t the one.

 

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. This guy actually thought I was acting up because of jealousy. He had no idea that Tess had filled me in regarding the money he was milking out of her every other week. I was burning inside, I wanted to spew everything on his face there and then but I had to hold my fire. I had to gather all the evidence so that when I go to Tess she wouldn’t doubt me. Yes the kiss still tormented my lips and mouth but not to an extent that it could overshadow my friend’s complaints. Ryan was being evasive and sly. He had smeared Tess with sex magic, and I was going to reverse that magic whether he liked it or not. And if Raksha was the mastermind of the Orchestra, the she too was going to dance to the trumpets.

 

 

JADE: You either tell me what just happened in that room between you and Raksha or from here I am going straight to Tess with what I have seen.

 

RYAN: I don’t know what you are talking about.

 

JADE: Really? Let me break it for you in simple terms. I came here earlier and I was told you had a guest in your office or should I say bedroom. Then I decided to hang around and wait for you to finish. I went to that café right opposite to take tea. I had not even taken a sip of it before I saw you with your guest leave. Is that loud enough or should I add home theatre to spice up the volume up.

 

RYAN: So what if you saw her? What makes you think that something weird happened in there?

 

JADE: Did I say something weird happened? It is you to tell me before I make my own conclusions and my conclusions are always bad Ryan, real bad.

 

RYAN: I don’t owe you any explanations. In fact I need you to leave coz I have a lot of work to do, I am sure you also have a few cars to sell.

 

JADE: I am leaving Ryan. I wasn’t intending to stick here for more than 30 minutes. Actually after what I have seen, I can’t even discuss what brought me here. I guess I am dealing with something deeper and dangerous. By the way who is better in bed, mother or daughter?

 

I said and just like I came, I left. My heart was heavy and I wanted to kill someone. I didn’t know whether to confront Raksha first or tell Tess what I had seen. My head was still spinning when I went back to work and my boss saw it on my face, that things weren’t okay. He was a very caring person and he immediately called me to his office. He was concerned and I needed to share my discoveries with someone who would give me sound advice and help me save Tess. He asked if a client was disturbing me with payment coz that is the only thing that could make me feel down. I had no option but to open up to him in secrecy. Of course he would not tell Tess. I told him everything that was happening and what I had discovered. He was shocked. He had theories that added up though logical and disgusting at the same time.

 

 

TYSON: Jade I would tell you not to mingle in this but you are already in it like soda in a bottle. Two things, either the mum was dating this guy before and she requested him to “date” Tess and get her money so that they can use it for God knows what. If that is the case then he was not to sleep with her till after the “wedding”, but you know men, shit happens.

 

JADE: But shit involving a mother and daughter is not shit anymore but abomination.

 

TYSON: I don’t think you live in the real world Jade. Don’t just sell cars, go out there and see how people live promiscuously. There are women out their losing their husbands to their mothers or men losing their wives to their dads. It is a doggy doggy world out there. My second theory is, the mother is lonely and horny and who else to help but Ryan. They probably fell in love after he started dating Tess. Another theory is there is nothing going on, she was just in town and decided to have some private talk with her son-in-law to be. Don’t be quick to judge right now. Investigate further.

 

JADE: I am not a CID

 

TYSON: Get one and let him do the dirty job for you.

 

JADE: I don’t know any CID

 

TYSON: I will give you a number, call him and ask him to meet you. Tell him I gave you his number. He owes me big time so he should not take a single cent from you.

 

JADE: Will he do the job?

 

TYSON: Meet with him first and then let him answer you. He is good and thorough and he likes such jobs. He is Calvin. He is very handsome and probably your type.

 

Tyson always teased me because he knew I hated relationships. I took Calvin’s number and went back to my office. I immediately rang him. The voice on the other end of the line was deep and husky. He talked so fast but I slowed him down

 

 

after I mentioned Tyson’s name. I tried to link the voice to the handsomeness and couldn’t wait to see him face to face. He agreed to come to the office later than evening and talk with me.

 

He arrived at exactly 5pm and he was nothing like his voice. What a waste of beautiful thoughts! He was short, bald with a bulging tummy and compound eyes. No words to describe his wide nose. He went to Tyson’s office I had to join them there. The look I gave my boss, only he could understand. Anyway it wasn’t a hook up session and so I had to concentrate on the matter at hand. I told him the story, what plus who was involved. He said Ryan’s name sounded familiar but he had to go back to his office and check his files. I was glad that finally something tangible would come out from all that mess. I gave him all the necessary details he needed to do the job thoroughly. He was intelligent from how he analyzed the whole thing.

 

That night, I couldn’t sleep. A lot of weird and funny things crossed my mind. I was so confused. I rang Tess and all I could tell her was that I checking on her. I was afraid if we talked much, I could end up telling her what I saw that morning I asked her how she and Skyla were doing. She read coldness in my voice and tried to force information out of me. I created a story to feed her thoughts.

 

TESS: You sound very down my friend? Has someone dumped you?

 

JADE: I haven’t dated in three years and so dumping doesn’t apply. I just had a long and disappointing day.

 

TESS: No sales or?

 

JADE: Something of the sort. A guy promised to buy a V8 but he has postponed till next month. One of our clients has refused to clear his balance of 200k. He keeps lying to me and Tyson is on my neck.

TESS: He is coming here for dinner tonight. He said he will show me his plan so that I don’t doubt him.

 

JADE: Tess you came to me for advice, kindly stall him for a few days. Don’t give him that cash until you hear from me.

 

TESS: What are you going to do? I told you not to ask him.

 

JADE: Of course I won’t ask him, but just tell him you need to think about it because it’s a lot of money.

 

TESS: I will try but he has been pressurizing me so much. It is all he talks about.

 

He even said that I am stalling his project because by now it would be almost done.

 

JADE: Ask him what he could have done if he hadn’t met you or if you had no money. You need to challenge him Tess. Put love aside and reason like a tough cookie.

 

TESS: I will call you once he leaves. This is really eating me up Jade. I can’t tell my mum coz she will strangle me. I can’t say no to Ryan instantly and you are also telling me to think twice. This is taking a toll on my ass, you know.

 

JADE: Relax Tess. After all it is your money, in the end the choice will be yours.

 

TESS: True, I think he is already here. There is a knock at the door. Please call my mum and tell her that I love her.

 

JADE: Why can’t you do it yourself?

 

TESS: Do it Jade, she has been avoiding me.

 

She said and hung up. I wondered why she wanted me to call her mum on her behalf. My guess was as good as right. Raksha told me that since Tess met Ryan, she hardly visited her. She dropped Skyla at the gate and drove off like she was dumping garbage. Most of her calls and texts to Tess went unanswered. She was no longer interested in her because she had fallen in love. Raksha sounded so

 

 

bitter. On the other hand Tess said her mum has been avoiding her. Who was fooling who?

 

JADE: You have to understand her, she has been lonely for quite some time, you know!

 

RAKSHA: Lonely? I have been lonely like forever and I don’t ignore her. Wait until that Ryan dumps her. She will cry right here in this house.

 

JADE: Ryan can’t do that to Tess, he loves her so much.

 

RAKSHA: Really? And how would you know that? Are you in the relationship too?

 

JADE: No. I know it from what Tess tells me.

 

RAKSHA: That is the mistake you girls make, trusting those lunatics so much.

 

JADE: By the way, where is his business situated? I would love to pass by there and see what he actually sells.

 

RAKSHA: How am I supposed to know? Ask Tess to show you. I don’t care even if his business is in Jupiter.

 

There it was. Raksha was obviously hiding something. How could she not know where Ryan’s business was and yet I saw her leave the place that morning. What was going on between her and Ryan? Tyson’s second theory hit my head. Raksha and Ryan fell in love after he started dating Tess. And she wanted him for herself. He was using Ryan to break Tess heart so that she can dump him and remain with her. My whole body became hot and steamy…..I wanted to see the future and see

how mother and daughter will tear each other apart as I cheered on.

 

It was 11pm and Tess had not called as promised. I assumed they were in bed plying a tensed football match. I decided to switch off my phone and go to sleep.

 

Next morning I received a message from Tess. It was the longest and ugliest message I have ever received from a friend in need and in deed. All the uncouth

 

 

words we had mastered in school were used in that text. I read the message thrice and couldn’t believe how Ryan had manipulated her. As much as I wanted to leave them alone, I was now going to destroy that son of a woman! I was going to bring him down to his feel!
