I looked up the rest of them,”You should all give me a reason why I should let her be!” I demanded with a kind of braveness I never thought I had.

 

Anna Paula placed a comforting arm on my shoulder,”What’s the point? We’re not heartless like her and that’s the difference between Aria and us. So you tell me now child, will you like to be her?”

 

My eyes darted to the girl on the floor and her mother who was now beside her trying to check out her wounds and I shook my head.

 

“I can never be like them.” I looked away and bit into my mouth.

 

“That’s more like it.” Pearl let go of my leg and stood.

 

“I’m glad you understood my point. They’re really not worth it. We’ve dealt with bigger obstacles than this theirs was just a joke. Right Pablo?”

 

 

“You’re right my love, I really don’t know what the heck they were thinking. That we’re so gullible enough to be fooled? Too bad.”

 

“They didn’t know whom they were dealing with I guess. If they had had an idea, they wouldn’t have ventured in the first place. How foolish of them! Paula is right Betsy, they’re not even worth that beating you just gave her. We’ll just call the police and hand them over for good.” Daniel cut in.

 

“Police? No Dan. Just let them be. I’m glad I have my daughter and nothing is important apart from her. I might be disappointed and upset with them but I feel that we should just let them be.” Paula said with a worried look.

 

“I also feel same. As long as my daughter wasn’t harmed in anyway by what they did, I think we should just rest the case.” Pablo also supported.

 

I looked at their face unbelievably. How can they Forgive this criminals so easily?

 

Seriously, I’ve never seen rich people being kind and so considerate before compared to this people.

 

“How can we forgive them so easily Aunt? And you uncle? This Aria is really bad. Remember I told you about it dad?”

“I remember Megan, and I’ve also seen it with my very own eyes. That’s why I want them behind bars, at least they’ll learn their lesson.” Daniel answered nicely bringing a huge smile on my face.

 

“Come on Dan, just let it go. I believe their just opportunistic and attention seekers who go about impersonating rich people in order fill their growling empty stomachs since there’s poverty clearly written on them….”

 

“Watch how you speak woman!” Simonica stood with hands pointing at Amy.

With a calm face, Amy walked to her and faced her squarely but making sure she maintained a safe distance from her.

 

 

“Lower your voice madam, you’ll need it later to instill moral values in your uncultured and greedy daughter. And as for that filthy hand you’re pointing at me, I advice that you use it to discipline your daughter. I hope you haven’t forgotten the saying that, spare the rod and spoil the child huh ? To make it simple and easy for your narrow minded brain to comprehend, I didn’t mean that you should whip her though, but to instill in your child right from wrong. But how can you possibly do that when you can’t even judge right from wrong? You’ve lost your own sense of judgement and power of reasoning and I don’t blame you neither do I care. To think that I was even trying to save your ass.” She spoke calmly with a mocking smirk.

 

Mrs Miles buried her head in her palm in shame” Am sorry madam, am sorry sir. We’re sorry for what we did. Please have mercy and temper justice with mercy please. I’ve really regretted what I did. I don’t know what came over me.” She kneeled with hands folded in front of her.

 

“You know what mum, you really shouldn’t have said all this. They’ll surely pay for what they did.” Megan said ignoring her pleadings.

 

“Let it be Megan, remember evil is not to be paid with evil.” Amy replied calmly and went to sit on a nearby couch.

 

“Does that mean their forgiven?” Megan asked no one in particular.

 

I have no problem with them so I have.” Amy stated. “Me too.” Pablo said.

 

“Yeah and me ” Granny replied.

 

“I have no problem with them to so they’re free to go.” Paula replied.

 

Almost all the family has forgiven them except for Megan who was still fuming, his dad and Pearl, She hasn’t spoken yet. And there’s also the woman who was on the stage a while ago standing all by herself. She hasn’t spoken yet. I wonder who she could be.

 

 

With the way everyone is forgiven them, I’m starting to feel bad considering how I pounced on Aria like a deranged lion .

 

“What do you have to say Pearl, do you also forgive her?” I asked.

 

She shrugged nonchalantly.

 

“We should always see the bright side of issues and that’s what I’m gonna do in this case. It’s true what they did was horrible but through that I found my family back and that’s more than enough. There’s really blessing in every misfortune. If Toby had died, then it would’ve been a different issue but he didn’t” She said sweetly and walked to where Aria was still laid and helped her up walked to Simonica and did same.

 

“I hope you refrain from bad things Aria. It’s doesn’t suit you. I have nothing against but…”

 

“Thanks Pearl. Thanks for forgiving my mum and I . We really didn’t know what we were doing. I’m really sorry for what I did Pearl, but if you could give me another chance, I promise to make everything right and win your trust back. I really don’t want our friendship to be affected by what I did. Please.” She pleaded pathetically.

 

Pearl took a step and turned her back to her. “I forgive you Aria. But you can’t remain a friend anymore. I’m sorry Aria, but you lost my love and friendship. I trust you no longer.”

 

“Please Pearl, you can punish me anyhow but please don’t dissolve our friendship.”

 

“I didn’t do anything Aria, but you did.” Pearl replied and wiped a tear from her face.

 

Her mum walked to her and hugged her.

 

 

“It’s seems all of you are so softhearted. Since you’ve all decided to let it slide, then I will as well. I just hope they don’t come back to harm Pearl in anyway” I cautioned.

 

Everyone looked at me then Paula withdrawn from the hug and walked to where I stood which was close to the glass door.

 

Nothing will happen to her again Betsy dear, you know why? Because you’re there to stand up to anyone that tries to bother her. I know you’ll fight anyone for her. Thanks Betsy, for taking care of my daughter all this time, you really are a true friend.” Anna Paula spoke softly and took my hand in hers.

 

I bowed my head shyly. I’m so privileged to be among such rich people.

 

“Don’t embarrass me Auntie.” I stated.

 

“But I haven’t forgiven them and I don’t think I ever will !” A tiny voice shouted from the middle of the hall.

 

We all turned and I was surprised to see a cute boy. Whose son could he be?

 

“Marion?” Paula whispered and moved from me.

 

“Where have you been? You should be asleep by now.” Paula asked

 

“Before I answer you, you all should first answer me. Why did you all lied to me about my sister? You told me she’s gone to school right? So why am I hearing a different thing now?” Marion asked.

 

Mmmm… So Pearl has a kid brother now.

 

“Oh that! We’re sorry son. We didn’t mean too. Besides you’re still young you wouldn’t have understood.” His mother explained.

 

“All right mum, but before you’re forgiven I want this people to be punished, they can’t go scot free just like that. I mean who does that to criminals. I know you’re all

 

 

compassionate and all that but please do not let your generosity to extend to undeserving people like them. And if you won’t punish them, then I will.”

 

“You don’t have to worry big man, your request has already been granted.” Daniel replied and went to the door and pressed a button.

 

The door opened revealing police men.

 

“Inspector, please take them away, they’ve overstayed their welcome.”

 

“What’s going on Dan? What are you doing?” Amy rushed to her.

 

“Am doing what we all should’ve done when we learnt the truth about them and their devious ways.”

 

“But I thought we all decided to forgive them.”

 

“Not me though. I never said I’ve forgiven them besides am not getting them arrested because I haven’t forgiven them, am arresting them as a good citizen. Impersonating someone is a crime in this country and as a patriotic and loyal citizen, I can’t watch those who breached the laws walk around freely. Remember no one is above the law, it’s applicable to everyone regardless. Officers, please do your job.” He explained with finality in his words.

 

No one dared to speak any longer. He’s right after all.

 

“Please sir. We’re sorry.” Aria pleaded.

 

I began to feel sorry for her.

 

“Please spare us. We made a mistake” Simonica pleaded along.

 

“Take them away.” Mr Dante instructed.

 

“Move.” The inspector commanded and they began to walk slowly.

 

“Hung on!” Megan yelled and raced to where they stood .

He stood before Aria then he removed something and kept It in his hands.

 

He signaled to the police men and they went out together with Aria and her mum.

 

“Goodnight!” Megan hollered after them.

 

I yawned and checked the time on the clock and it was 11:10pm. That means they’re gonna spend the night in prison.

 

“Finally, the bad nuts has been separated from the lot.” Marion said and yawned.

 

I chuckled at the sight.
