I reached my hand out. “Can I hold her?”

“We should clean her first—” one of the nurse started.

Amy shook her head.

The nurse sighed and handed and handed the baby over to her.

Amy carefully took the baby into her arms and walked over to me. She handed the baby to me.

“It’s a baby girl!” She squealed.

“Yeah!” I nodded.

“Wait, you knew?” She asked.

“Yeah. Pablo wanted a baby girl. He was so confident about it. So when I got to know that it’s a girl, I didn’t tell him. And now, he will be so happy”. I said and smiled sadly.

The midwife nodded at the nurses, letting them know to start the regular procedure in order to secure my stability.

Just then, Daniel entered. He smiled widely but the smile didn’t touch his eyes. I looked over at his shoulder expecting to see Pablo behind.

I signed defeat when the door closed. Even his mum is not here.

“She’s beautiful.” Daniel whispered.

He looked up at me. “Can I?”

I smiled at him and nodded my head. I kissed her forehead, not caring about the residues that rested on her body.

I handed her over to Daniel and looked at the midwife.

“Thank you.” I whispered.

She smiled at me and nodded her head. She took off her gloves and threw them in the trashcan.

” The worst is over.” One ofthe nurse told me.

handed her daughter to the nurse. “Here you go.” I whispered and handed the baby to her.

The nurse smiled and grabbed her.

“I’ll give her right back to you.”

Both nurses walked to the other side of the room and began to clean off my baby.

The nurse walked back to me and handed her over.

“What are you going to name her?” she asked with a grin.

I smiled and looked down at my daughter’s sleeping face.

“Mariana Del Dominguez”

“It’s beautiful.” she whispered.

She looked at me and smiled. “We will get going now and give you some time to bond. My name is Roslyn, call me if you need anything.”

. Amy’s POV

I stood at the door and watched Paula as she placed her daughter down in the bassinet.

We just came back from the hospital.

I smiled at the sight and walked in, closed the door slightly behind me.

“Hey.” I whispered.

“Hey yourself.” Paula smiled at and patted the chair next to her bed.

I chuckled and walked over to it. I sat down and peered into the bassinet.

My heart swelled with love at the sight of the sleeping baby. “She’s beautiful.” “She is.” Paula muttered.

I looked at her. She looked so distant. She was busy staring at the door.
