Amy’s POV

 

 

It’s been two fu.cking weeks since I left. I can’t believe Damon tricked me . But it was too late. I couldn’t come back immediately even if I wanted to. Damon has a terrible heart disease and if it comes and he is not treated immediately, he might die so I had no choice but to accompany him.

 

I was livid when he told me yesterday what actually happened to Paula the day we left.

 

I booked a flight in that instant. And here I am sulking in the plane.

 

I know Pablo will be mad at me now. As well as Amy’s Aunt.

 

I can’t wait to see Paula. That bastard just told me after we were done with everything that Paula got into an accident that same day and has been in coma since.

I signed when the plane descended.

 

I’m glad the Paparazzi didn’t come here. Else I won’t be able to to take it.

I got down with my luggage trailing behind me.

 

As usual, mom was waiting for me patiently at the airport. As for Dad, forget him he doesn’t even care.

 

“Mum!” I shouted and run towards her leaving my luggage behind.

 

I miss her so much. I couldn’t even inform her before leaving.

 

And judging by the look on her face, I think I’m in for an earful.

 

I got to her and engulfed her in a hug.

 

 

“Mum, i missed you a lot” I whispered in the crook of her neck.

 

She kept quiet.

 

“Mum I’m sorry”

 

She looked away and told the driver to go for my luggage.

 

She walked pass me and entered the car.

 

I followed her sadly to the car. I opened and sat beside her.

 

I looked into her face and she looked away.

 

I turned my my face to the direction she was looking.

 

“Stop behaving childishly” she whispered.

 

I released the breath I didn’t know I was keeping.

 

Finally. I beamed happily.

 

“Thanks mum, at least you spoke. That alone is enough for me” I said and placed my head on her shoulder as the chauffeur drove out of the airport.

 

“St Louis hospital please”. I said as my heart began to beat wildly.

 

Mum looked at me obviously aware of my nervousness.

 

“What’s wrong?” She asked.

 

“It’s Paula. She’s been hospitalized since last two weeks. I just hope nothing happened to her. Mum if something happens to her, I won’t be able to to bear it because I’m the sole reason for her condition…”

 

“What do you mean that you’re the reason?” Mum asked sternly.

 

 

“She was coming to my place. She was coming to see me…and sh…she…got involved in an accident.”

 

“It’s okay, pull yourself together. She’s going to be fine.” Mum assured as I weep on her shoulder.

 

“Mum, you can go home now. I will update you on what happens”. I told her when we got to the hospital.

 

“No. You won’t go alone. I’m coming with you.”

 

I looked at her unbelievably. ” Are you sure?”

 

She nodded and came down from the car.

 

She held my hand as we got inside.

 

“She’s been transferred to a private hospital” a nurse told us when we enquired about Paula.

 

“Where please,?” I asked.

 

“New south Wales” she stated.

 

I held mum’s hand as we made it out of the hospital.

 

Pablo’s POV

 

“I’ve been out of town for a while. I just heard of this tragic incident and decided to come.

 

“That’s good of you.” I replied,” Let’s talk outside” I added when a nurse came inside.

 

“So what happened?” He asked when we settled on a couch in the hall.

 

 

I was about to answer when I saw Paula’s doctor run down the corridor to her room, three nurses in tow.

 

 

Author’s POV

 

Leona, who just got to the door

 

rushed to the room but was pushed outside and ordered to wait.

 

She rushed to the window and watched as her Paula convulsed and the heart and BP monitors beat wildly.

 

Then ,nothing. She lay lifeless on the bed, her eyes bulging out with her whites eyes rolled up in her sockets.

 

The BP and heart monitors flat lined.

 

Pablo came running with Jude and Daniel on his tail.

 

Amy had just arrived She was crying silently when they got there.

 

‘’What’s happening?’’ Pablo demanded.

 

‘’They just rushed in there, she was okay a while back,’’ Leona said fighting back tears.

 

Pablo rushed to the room but the nurse pushed him out.

 

He cried out Paula’s name as he fought to go in.

 

A stronger male nurse had to come and hold him back.

 

The doctor grabbed a pair of defibrillators, charged them up and pressed them to Paula’s chest.

 

Her body jerked up and fell down to the bed.

 

The heart monitors still remained flat.

 

He charged again at a higher voltage, nothing.

 

After the seventh try, and intensely watching the heart monitors screen, which still remained flat, he put the defibrillators aside.

 

‘’Why is he putting them away? Why has he stopped?’’Pablo demanded and banged on the window .’’Hey!!’’

 

‘’Doctor?’’ the nurse queried

 

.

 

‘’Let’s call it in, time of death 13:17,’’ he said as he checked his time on the wrist watch.

 

The nurse pulled up the sheet over her body as the other medical personnel walked out.

 

Amy let out an anguished wail then collapsed.

 

The nurses rushed to her aid as Daniel, stood transfixed in one spot.

 

Pablo shook his head in protest, rushed in, pushed the nurse aside, grabbed her lifeless body, held it close to him, and wailed as he begged her to open her eyes.
