I Will Wait – Episode 16

As I went to bed that night, I slept with so many questions. What had I just done, this man was almost married and here I was throwing myself at him. It wasn’t right and even if he was to leave Esther for me he was my ex-boyfriends twin brother.

I woke up to the smell of hot chocolate, I must have overslept because when I woke up it was already nine in the morning.

‘Jeez don’t tell me I overslept.’ I said worriedly

‘Don’t worry my parents understand that we all slept late.’ Cornell said

He was in a grey sweat pant and black t-shirt, he was smelling really well and had a certain glow about him that I couldn’t put a finger on. ‘You are starring.’

‘Sorry.’ I responded shyly

‘Here.’ He said handing me the mug of hot chocolate I took a sip and it felt like a piece of my own haven. ‘I didn’t brush my teeth.’ I said as I took another sip ‘Don’t worry, you can do that after taking the chocolate.’ ‘I do hope your parents are not up yet.’

‘They are early risers, they have already taken their morning walk and I am sure

they are now feeding the chickens.’

I couldn’t help but laugh.

‘What?’ he asked surprised

‘Just realized why you left the farm.’ I said still laughing

‘Hey, I loved this place. I still do but I realized my blood boils at other things.’ He said

‘But really tell me, why did you leave the farm?’

‘Let me tell you that after you take your bath.’ He said pecking my forehead.

I walked to the bathroom and stripped off my clothes. I starred at myself on the mirror long and hard, why was Cornell being nice to me again. I made it clear that I didn’t want to have anything with him but a part of me was happy that he was being different.

After my bath, I changed into a long white dress with a gold belt and a slit on the side that went up to my thighs.

I walked to the kitchen and found everyone settled.

‘Good morning beautiful.’ Wane greeted

‘Good morning.’ I responded with a smile

I said my own share of greetings to everyone at the table and settled next to Cornell but opposite Cornelius.

I was a bit uncomfortable, Corny kept stealing glances at me and I felt like I just wanted my chair to swallow me up.

‘When do you plan on making her your wife?’ Mrs Kazadi asked Cornell I choked on my food and now I was coughing uncontrollably

‘Here.’ The brothers said offering me glasses of water at the same time I noticed Wane was enjoying everything that was happening.

I got the glass of water from Cornell and drunk it at once, Esther on the other hand was looking at me with hate.

‘Are you okay my dear?’ Mrs Kazadi asked me ‘I am good ma’am.’

‘Well about making her my wife, we are not rushing anything. We have our whole lives ahead of us.’ Cornell said as he patted my hand ‘That is true ma’am.’

‘She is a good woman, I have spent some time with her please don’t let her go. I would have said if you can’t marry her then your brother should but we know that is not happening.’ She had continued

‘And you two? When is the wedding? We are not getting any younger you know.’ Mr Kazadi said looking at Esther and Cornelius.

‘Not any time soon.’ Kendra responded without even looking at us ‘What did you just say?’ Esther asked her ‘Nothing.’ The girls responded at the same time

Breakfast went on in silence, plans were made that we would all watch a movie later in the day.

But Mr Kazadi opposite saying per tradition we should instead watch the family recording which they had put on a flash drive.

Cornell told me that he would show me around the farm and surprisingly Esther said they would tag along too with Cornelius because she wanted us to bond. The Kazadis thought it was a good idea but I knew she was up to no good.

‘So when do you plan on having babies?’ Esther asked as we walked in the orchard ‘We are not married, how do we think of babies?’ Cornell asked her

I knew that is something that he never thought about, according to him babies were just a baggage that had to come when you were done with planning your life.

‘So how does it feel to be cheated on?’ she asked me again I was trying so hard to remain calm.
