Violet’s POV

 

 

“Violet honey, I’m so sorry that your father and I couldn’t make it today. I assure you that we’ll be there with you in time. Work has just been very stressful. I promise we’ll make it up to you.” My mom explained as though it weren’t a regular occurrence.

 

 

In response to her apologies, I sighed deeply and said “It’s okay. I understand Mom. I’ll see you then.”

 

 

“Okay honey, I have to go now. Some board members just walked in. The meeting is about to begin. Bye honey.”

 

 

“Yeah bye.” I replied but she’d already hung up.

 

 

I sighed, tucking my phone in my pocket.

“Hey Bernice… That was Mom. She and Dad won’t be able to make it for the flight to Miami. But it’s fine though. It’s cool.” I said faking the best smile I could.

 

 

“You’ve never been able to hide anything from me. Your parents’ absence hurts you, doesn’t it?”

 

 

“Of course not Bernice. I’m fine, seriously. It’s nothing to be worried about.”

 

 

“Okay dear. If you say so… Your friends are here by the way.”

 

 

“Really?” I asked, my face lighting up.

 

 

“Yeah. They all seem excited. Dylan is practically radiating joy.”

 

 

My cheeks darkened at the mention of my ‘boyfriend’.

 

 

“He seems really into you. It’s just…” She paused.

 

 

“Just what Bernice?”

 

 

“I don’t know. I just never expected you guys. You were always close back in Missouri. I just never saw you guys together, you know.”

 

 

 

I frowned.

 

 

“It’s okay Bernice. I love him and that’s all that matters right?”

 

 

“Yeah sure.” She said shrugging and smiling.

 

 

I smiled at her as I got off my bed, grabbing my purse on my way out the door and down the stairs.

 

 

“Hey guys.” I said smiling at the group in front of me.

 

 

“Hey V. You ready to go?” Anna asked, Jayden’s hand around her waist.

 

 

“You bet I am. Let’s get this summer of fun started y’all.”

 

 

Everyone whooped as they began to walk towards the large limo which would take us to the airport where we would board my family’s private jet.

 

 

I watched as everyone else walked into the limo still celebrating while I stood watching sadly, wishing my parents had been able to make it.

 

 

“Violet, are you okay?” I heard someone say all of a sudden, their arms around my waist.

 

 

“Yeah yeah. I’m okay… Let’s go in shall we? We don’t wanna keep everyone waiting.” I said faking another smile.

 

 

“Ookay? Let’s go then.” He said escorting me towards the limo.

 

 

Kyle’s eyes were on us the whole time. When our eyes finally met, his had a wistful sad look in them, it nearly broke me. I’d already told Kyle that he and I couldn’t be and even though he’d agreed, I knew that he still had feelings for me.

 

 

 

“Oh well, no time to think about that now.” I thought to myself, pushing the thought aside as I relaxed into my seat.

 

 

It’s time to relax and let go.

“Finally, we’re here. I’m so exhausted from that flight.” I groaned, dropping my bag on the floor and settling into one of the comfortable chairs in the room.

 

 

The chair was so comfortable that now I soon found myself dozing off without a care in the world.

 

 

“Violet, you have got to be kidding me!” I heard all of a sudden, jerking me awake.

 

 

“I’m up! I’m up!” I said waking up to find Anna staring at me disapprovingly.

 

 

“How can you be sleeping when there are so many sights to see?”

 

 

“I’ll see them later Anna. After all, we’re going to be here for a while aren’t we?” I argued, making my way to the bed.

 

 

“No no no. You’re not sleeping on me. Come and meet you outside. We’re by the shore.”

 

 

“But Anna…” I mumbled but she was already out.

 

 

I grumbled about what a bossy friend she was but soon found myself on my way to the shore. Everyone was there. Anna and Jayden, Talen and Riley (his friend), Xander and Xavier, Kacey, Kyle, Dylan and now I.

 

 

“So gang, what do we do for the time we’re here?” Dylan asked.

 

 

“Catching new babes.” The twins, Xander and Xavier said together and smirked.

 

 

“Do couple things together.” Jayden said squeezing Anna’s hand.

 

 

“Catch some surf I guess.” Riley remarked.

 

 

“That sounds fun.” Talen replied, smiling.

 

 

Kacey, Kyle, Dylan and I had our own separate replies as well.

 

 

“So we’re all basically gonna have fun?” I asked.

 

 

“Yeah!” Everyone replied in unison.

 

 

“How about we start by just swimming for now?” Kacey suggested and everyone agreed.

 

 

We agreed to go back to our respective rooms and change into our swimsuits so we could get started.

 

 

It took a while for me to find my swimsuit in my luggage but I did.

 

 

“Where are you?” Anna texted me on my way out of my room.

 

 

I locked up and was in the process of answering her when I walked right into someone.

 

 

“Oww!” I said rubbing my temple from my place on the floor.

 

 

Whoever I’d walked into really worked out. My head hurt so bad.

 

 

“Here you go. Need some help?” The person said, causing me to freeze on the spot.

 

 

Slowly, I brought my head up and saw a face which I never expected to see again.

 

 

“A-aa-ron.” I stuttered staring into his eyes.

Sorry for not posting yesterday. Things just kinda got in the way.
