Episode 25

“The patient is dead, I’m sorry we really did try our best but she had lost a lot of blood coupled with the fact that she was pregnant. Her uterus was damaged too and she started having internal bleedings too.” The doctor having said all these left leaving us all in shock and grief.

Mr Martin’s was very angry at his wife for not taking care of their daughter well. She was supposed to care for her while he worked for money but of course that was wrong and was going to cause a problem likely a divorce. Everyone urged them both to calm down as they were in public.

A black Friday. Everyone was still grieving over Annabel’s death. It was still painful,I cried my eyes out and so did Jessica. After the funeral mom drove us home.

*Stephanie’s POV*

I leaned on the car window thinking about Anna. She was bad at first yes,but she tried making up for her mistakes but what did I do? I was always viewing her from an angle to make sure she wasn’t up to something. She really needed company,she needed friends but what did I do,I pushed her away. She ordered an expensive dress for me just so I could attend a party with her, she took Nora and I out on a treat for ice cream and paid for it,she called me late in the night to check up on any gist I had after reuniting me with my love who happened to be her cousin. I didn’t know when tears flowed freely from my eyes. Mom wiped my tears and consoled me, Jessica couldn’t even speak as we both were in so much pain, we had lost one of our own!

Mom switched the radio on for us to listen to soothing music but it seemed the radio was mourning with us too.

“We’ve come a long way from where we began

And I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again (2)* I looked at mom and then she switched the radio off.

Life was getting tougher and I wasn’t sure I was ready for anything else coming my way but for some reason I felt that I owed everyone a happy ending.

We got home and Stacy saw me,she quickly ran to me and gave me a hug,” it’ll be fine Steph. You’ll get over it”.

I cried a lot in her arm while she hugged me tighter patting me. I feia lil better

after hugging her,Ben came along and saw me. He hugged me too and consoled

me,” you look horrible Steph. Am sure your Anna wouldn’t be happy seeing you

like this. Please wipe your tears”..

“How did it happen?” He asked me

“I don’t know,It happened so quickly.I was dressing up ,saw my phone light on,saw a missed call and called her back. She sounded like she was trying to talk amidst water and when I got there she was already faint and had lost a lot of blood. This is the fault of those stupid maids! If they had gone to check on her she wouldn’t be dead today!!”I answered crying..

Mom did her best to console me too,I went upstairs to my room. I got a call from Williams who sympathized with me,I felt so happy talking to him afterwards.

I took my glass jug downstairs to get it refilled in the kitchen,I got there and saw

Ben wrapping his hands around Stacy’s waist. I coughed and then entered.

“Hey… Uhmmmm Steph you’re down..I was planning to go call you. I made your

favorite, pasta!” Stacy said trying to cheer me up.

“Thanks Stacy but am not hungry”I said faking a smile.

“Did she mention Beef sauce? Grilled chicken and your favorite home made mango juice?” Ben added

I turned around smiling and said,” fine! I’ll eat a little of it”

They both smiled but whatever.

Mom was glad Stacy had somehow managed to convince me to eat. She thanked

her a lot and complimented her cooking too. It really did seem Benjamin was

falling for Stacy and I am so glad about that,I pray she’s the last got he messes

with.

Saturday morning and mom had left with Benjamin. They were new wares coming over and she needed help with everything so she took her precious son along leaving me with Stacy. We both stayed home eating and trying new recipes. When we felt bored,we went for a walk to get pop corn and I pleaded we took Jessica too.
