NADINE.

 

After so many years, he came back here and dare threaten to take custody of my child.

 

After so many years, he wants to ruin my life all over again.

 

I’ve spent seconds. Minutes. Hours. Days. Months. I’ve spent years trying to build up a shield between my world and his.

 

I don’t want anything to ever be between us again.

 

I just wanted to live my life, protecting my Zoe and now’s he’s back?

 

To do what exactly? To take my baby?

 

That will definitely be over my dead body.

 

I won’t allow him to.

 

And how the hell did he got that DNA test done?

 

Has he been stalking Zoe and I didn’t even notice?

 

“Zoe.. ”

 

I call her and she turns to me with a smile.

 

“Yes mommy. ”

 

She smiles at me and I give her a smile too.

 

“Has that mister that came earlier been stalking you? Did you saw him before tonight?”

 

I ask her eagerly and she shakes her head indicating she didn’t.

 

If he hasn’t been stalking her then how come he has the DNA test.

 

I groan and rub my palm down my face before telling Zoe to leave.

 

“Is everything alright momma, are you afraid because that man told you he’ll take me to court? ”

 

She says and my eyes shoot at her.

 

It’s not that I’m afraid of him but what will happen at the court.

 

 

I don’t want her to go there. Never.

 

“It’s okay dear. I’m alright. ”

 

I hug her to my chest, thinking of the one thing I never thought I will do.

 

I need to speak with Jeremy.

 

JEREMY.

 

I walk happily inside the house and Stephanie is seated on the couch with chips by her side and her eyes focused on the television.

 

I never thought I would ever have a child. Now, I want to shout to her that I have a beautiful smart baby girl but instead, I bite my tongue and walk pass her into the bedroom.

 

She didn’t even act like she saw me.

 

Nadine have to let me take the child. I’m the father of my kid.

 

Even if she won’t let me take her now; she should allow me to visit the child in several occasions.

 

Get closer to my daughter but I know she won’t which is why this case must be taken to the court.

 

I know it’s not fair after leaving her all alone for these past years but I’m in desperate need for a child and only that kid can save my life now.

 

I know instantly that she’s mine just by looking at her.

 

Those eyes …They were too familiar.

 

There’s no way the child couldn’t be mine. No matter how much she denies it.

 

I was about removing my jacket when my phone vibrates.

 

I grab it from the bed and it’s an unknown number.

 

 

We need to talk.

 

The voice says immediately I answered and I will always recognize that voice.

 

Always.

 

 

Okay. Where should we meet?

 

I ask, my heart beating faster against my chest.

 

Maybe she finally would let me get close to my daughter.

 

 

Meet me at Big Ben.

 

She didn’t allow me to say another word before she hangs up and I sigh before putting back on my jacket and grabbing the car keys.

 

I walk out of the house without saying anything to Stephanie and soon, I arrive at Big Ben.

 

I walk inside the restaurant but Nadine is nowhere to be found.

 

Few minutes later, she walks in and I still can’t believe how much she has changed.

 

She has grown even more beautiful along the years and she looks perfectly okay.

 

She walks to me with a frown and just when I thought she was going to sit down, she signal for me to follow her and I did.

 

We arrive at the quiet corner of Big Ben and she turns to me, her eyes holding nothing but anger.

 

Her family, how about them?

 

I wanted to ask but I just kept quiet, allowing her to speak first.

 

“My daughter. You can’t take her away from me. ”

 

She mutters. Her voice nothing but cold.

 

“You mean our daughter. ”

 

I correct her and her eyes shoot at me. She looks like she wants to murder me right now. I don’t blame her.

 

“How did you got the DNA done? ”

 

She asks, her eyes on me and I sigh.

 

“Is that important right now? ”

 

I raise my brows and she scoff.

 

 

“Tell me how the fu.ck you got the DNA test done! ”

 

She yells and I sigh.

 

“I had someone stalk her and get it done. ”

 

I mutter under my breath and she scoffs again.

 

“You were stalking my daughter.. ”

 

“Our daughter. ”

 

I say again and what followed was a slap.

 

It stings but it can never be compared to the pain I’ve caused her.

 

“You have no prove you bastard! How dare you come in here and try to claim my daughter after leaving me shattered six years ago!

 

How dare you come in here and try to claim something that isn’t yours! ” She yells.

 

“Zoe is mine, Nadine. You know that. I’m her father and you shouldn’t deny her the right of her knowing her father. ”

 

Another slap comes right at my cheek and I breathe out.

 

“Her father?! ”

 

She laughs. “You come back after six years and what? You’re back to claim father?

 

Jeremy, I’m warning you. Stay away from me and my daughter.

 

What mode exactly do you want from me?

 

You already took everything, what more?

 

Don’t you have your own family to watch after? Why are you on my neck?

 

Haven’t you mess up my life enough?! ”

 

She yells and I gulp in.

 

That’s the problem right now Nadine. I don’t have a family.

 

No daughter nor son to call mine.

 

My so called wife is just sitting at home, torturing me and I can’t produce a child by myself.

 

I’m so sorry Nadine but Zoe is my last hope.

 

“I can’t. I’m sorry. ”

 

I say looking into her eyes.

 

Those eyes that once held love and adoration for me weren’t there anymore.

 

Now all I can see is hurt and anger.

 

It pains me to see her like this but I had no choice six years ago and I have no choice right now either.

“I’m the mother Jeremy and I think I know who’s the father of my daughter. ”

I mutter and she scoffs.

 

“I’ve had many dicks in me. Don’t honor yourself. ”

 

She says and hearing her say that hurts badly that it should have.

 

I didn’t find any man with her nor have I seen her with one.

 

Did she said that just to spite me?

 

“Maybe now but six years ago, I was the only one so tell me how could you have bore a child that isn’t mine? ”

 

I raise my brows at her and she keeps quiet.

 

“I was with another. ”

 

She mutters and I shake my head. I refuse to believe that.

 

“You’re lying Nadine. You never cheated on me. You never would have. ”

 

“Why? You think I can’t be like you? you can cheat but I cannot? ” Her voice holds nothing but venom.

 

 

“Let me have a role in her life is all I’m asking for Nadine or I’m so sorry but I will have to choice but to take custody of her. ” With that, I turn away and walk back to my car.

 

I’m so sorry Nadine.

Why is she so adamant, is it a crime for me to take what is mine. If she wants it in a hard way,then I will have no other choice than to give her hard.

 

I got home and Stephanie was still busy watching her movie.

 

She is such a spoilt brat,she doesn’t behave like a married woman if I have it my way,then I would not have been with her Nadine is more natured than she is. I hissed and went up to my room to think about my life.
