Nadine’s Pov:

I clumped down the stairs to the sitting room, looking all moody.

My parents were already at the dining, together with my younger sister and cousin brother, having breakfast.

“Nadine;” mum called as soon as she saw me.

“You’re a bit late for breakfast today”.

I just lowered my gaze yo the floor and didn’t say a word.

I finally got to the dining and took my usual seat – next to Sheila – my younger sister.

“Good morning, mum.

“Good morning, dad” I greeted perfunctorily, taking a slice of bread.

“Good morning” replied dad.

“Good morning, baby. How was your night?” Mum asked.

“Cool” I said under my breath.

“Are you okay, Nadine? You don’t really look fine to me” Sheila said, looking at my face.

She was sixteen and I was nineteen.

“I’m good” I muttered.

“But you…”

“Maybe you should just mind your own business” I cut her off huskily and she scoffed and focused on her meal.

Mum and dad looked at me.

The rest of the time on the dining was kinda quiet and when I was done, I stood up and left for my room.

Today was weekend, so there was no school today.

I plonked myself on the bed and buried my face in my palms. I felt so pained and confused.

Jeremy – He’s the reason I’m acting this way. He’s changed.

He used to be so nice and sweet, but all of a sudden, he changed. I can’t even remember the last time he called me on his own without me calling first.

He’s actually my lover – my first boyfriend. I loved him to the extent I trusted my dignity to him. I gave my v*rginity to him.

But, I can’t tell why he’s suddenly changed. We used to be the best couples.

I reached for my phone and dialed his line.

He picked up close to the last beep.

Jeremy?

I Called in a frail voice.

Hey bae

He beamed.

I sighed and closed my eyes.

Jeremy, what’s going on. You didn’t call the entire day…

I know, I know and im so sorry. I’ve been really busy, bae. I’m sorry. I promise I’ll make it up to you.

I kept silent for a while.

Are you busy? Can I come over?

I asked.

Um…no; actually, I’m about going out. But, I’ll let you know as soon as I’m back,okay? I promise.

Jeremy…do you still love me?

Nadine! Of course, I do – with my whole being – forever.

I took in another deep breath.

Bye.

I muttered on the phone and dropped the call.

I threw the phone beside me on the bed and cogitated.

He’s been doing this for some weeks now – avoiding me. How am I sure he’s not even at home?

Suddenly, an idea niggled at me and I stood up from the bed immediately and left the room.

I passed my parents in the sitting room and left the house. I needed to see him.

I got out to the main road and boarded a cab and soon, I was at his place.

The gateman knew me very well because of how often I visited and as a result, he gave me free passage into the house.

The house was duplex and that’s because Jeremy’s parents were filthy rich.

I knocked on the door and a maid opened up.

“Good morning, ma’am” she greeted with a bow.

She knew me as well to be Jeremy’s girlfriend.

Trust me when I say this, we were pretty close – the best couples- and that’s the reason I’m confused at his sudden attitude.

“Is Jeremy home?” I asked her and noticed she cringed.

“Y…Yes” she stuttered, looking nervous.

What? Jeremy was home?

Perfect.

I walked into the dazzling sitting room and looked around. His parents had definitely left for work already and he should be in his room.

I took the stairs, headed for his room.

I couldn’t wait to see him.

As I drew closer, I started hearing strange sounds…and they were coming from Jeremy’s room.

I reduced my pace and tried to figure it out.

What sound was that?

I finally got to the door and wrapped my hand around the hinges and then, the sound became clear to me.

They were…moans.

“Oh…please…

“Yeah…

“Urgh….

“Je…”

I furrowed my brows in confusion.

What’s going on?

Fearfully, I opened the door and my eyes met the biggest shock of my life

What??

I found him on bed, having s*x with a strange lady.

Directly in the act!

Oh, my God!

No!

This is not happening.
