PART 45

He continued in his gentle seduction. He whispered to me, “Tell me when you want me to stop”. My mind screamed “Stop!” but my body said, “carry on”. He knew what he was doing. He knew the effect it had on me. The pecks got deeper and I was getting more drawn in. I knew I should stop him. I knew I might just regret this but my body didn’t give a damn. It wanted more; it craved for more. It had been a very long time this body had been loved so it betrayed me. As the kisses on my neck and shoulder got deeper the moans got louder. He stopped

suddenly. I didn’t want it to stop. My body was screaming for more. My closed eyes flew open. I looked at him and he was watching a programme on television.

“What happened?”

“You have to ask me “

“Ask you for what?”

“To make love to you”

“I don’t get. What were you doing before?” my sensation filled mind asked him.

“Babe, you have to ask or you can claim I forced or coerced you into it”

“Who will I tell?”

“Ask me and I will oblige you”

He had made horny me and I needed a cold bath to clear my head and sleep. I wasn’t happy but I couldn’t force him to continue and the whole idea of asking him didn’t make sense to me. I never asked Emeka for sex. I tried to stand up so I could go into the room. He stopped me. “I know you will never ask. You have too much pride. You are sexy and beautiful. I really want to have you but I need you to say you want me too” then he started again. It took a different toll as his hands gently touched every exposed part of my body. I didn’t know how he did it but the seduction worked. I was willing for him to take me. He stopped again. He allowed me to leave if I wanted to. I was soaked down there. All my strong will had escaped out of the window. I had never been this turned on. I was even embarrassed as my nipples were struggling with nightie as they popped out.

I went to the bathroom to take a shower. I took off my nightie. As I was about to enter the shower, the bathroom door swung open. Dubie entered inside. “Let me give you a bath” he offered. I had covered my body grabbed my nightie and I ran out. He came after me into the bedroom.

“Tell me you want me. Say you want me and I will give you the best time you have ever had. Just say it” he was beside me as I struggled to wear my nightie. He flung it away. He bent down to kiss me. I melted in his arms. He kissed me all over my body avoiding the areas requesting for it the most. I wasn’t thinking straight anymore. The sensation was overwhelming. I moaned loudly. It was like a trigger before he descended on sensitive parts.

He stopped again. This time I knew he was turned on. He begged me to ask for it. Was this a game or something? He begged and then finally I said, “I want you”. We were on another level. I can’t describe all he did to me that night and the times I shamelessly made out with him. I thought I was loud with Emeka, Dubie feasted on loud moans and didn’t care who was listening. He got me where he wanted me.

We made love all night that I cancelled my flight for Monday morning. I eventually left in the afternoon from the house because neither of us left the room. It was crazy. I wanted more. I was insatiable. Leaving him, he packaged all the provisions we bought a day before for my going back. On the plane, I found in my bag an envelope with N50,000 in it. He didn’t need to. I knew he had me where he wanted but I couldn’t resist him. We talked every day like we normally did but we never discussed our intimacy. When we see each other; action spoke better than words.

Emeka came to see me in Enugu. We talked but I made it clear to him I had found my man. He tried to convince me but I repeated my earlier conditions. He told me not to make a hasty decision but think about what I was doing. He could see I was in love.

“You allowed him to have sex with you, didn’t you?” I didn’t respond. He didn’t need a verbal response from me. “You have been captured by sex. He must have made you go crazy. Did you enjoy it? Akwaugo, you shouldn’t have. I loved you so much. I made mistakes which I regret but dumping me like this isn’t fair. I am sorry for everything I did. Please forgive me. It is now I understand what you went through. Can you give me another chance to make it right?”

“That ship has sailed Emeka. I have moved on and I urge you to do same. You have done so much for me and I appreciate but, I see you more like a brother than a lover. I’m in love with someone else”

“It won’t last. If I see a relationship that would last, I will know. This won’t last. I wouldn’t trust that guy if I were you. I will allow you to explore. He is no competition; he is just a sex-machine. When the time comes, you will realise you made a big mistake. But I will be right here waiting for you”

‘You won’t get married and have children?”

“I will wait until the end of the year. If you haven’t come to your senses then I will move on too”

“And your sisters?”

“All of you need to come to your senses”

I had no plans of moving on with Emeka. Truly, at that point, I was not interested in what he had to say. I was ready to be friends with him and nothing more. I was ready to help him and that was it. I had to make it clear what I wanted. Dubie was all I wanted at that time.

Dubie and I’s relationship blossomed. I later became a slave to his sexual desires. I was lucky I was at the verge of graduating when this happened. He would come to Enugu at a drop of a hat and I would be with him. He would summon me to Lagos and I would be there. His loving me was like opium. I was addicted. I felt he was too. He didn’t want to share me with anyone and I wasn’t ready to do so too.

I became one of those girls that couldn’t stand him being with another girl. It was crazy. I forced him to sack his secretary and employ a guy to work with him. I posted several of our pictures on social media tagging him. I accepted the relationship ahead of my deadline. He had me where he wanted me. He began to control me.

Father invited me to the village. We spoke at length. I asked him why he didn’t like Dubie. He spoke to me that day and it bothered my mind.

“Chidubem is a young guy who came into wealth at such a young age. There is a tendency for such to become arrogant and self-centred. I tell you this from my experience. Have you tried to find out how he came into such wealth?”

“He is an importer and car dealer. I have been to his office several times and I have watched him do business. He learnt the trade from his uncle”

“You say he is twenty-seven and a graduate. When did he learn the trade to have freedom so soon and explode at this rate? You said he has a Masters’ degree, when did all this happen?”

“He worked with his uncle while in school. When he graduated, he continued with him until he started off on his own”

“So, his uncle set him up? But he is bigger than the man in less than five years? How come?”

“He has rich friends who patronize him”

“What is the source of their wealth?”

I couldn’t answer that. I had asked but Dubie always said I should forget about that. But I believed him. I believed the words he said. I believed the source of his wealth was genuine.

My next visit to Lagos, we took a step forward. Dubie took me to see his mother. Dubie looked exactly like her. The resemblance was striking. His mother was pretty, sophisticated and classy. She was nice and friendly to me. She offered me food and like her son, wouldn’t want me to help in clearing up the plates.

She lived in Amuwo Odofin. She stayed alone in a lavishly furnished duplex. She had four-choice cars parked in the compound. She had money. She was very comfortable, more comfortable than Dubie. She listened to me talk about myself and was excited when she heard I was a soon to be a doctor. She asked Dubie to work my service year to Lagos so she could see me often. Before I left, she gave a gold jewellery set. I appreciated it but refused to take it.

“She’s humble and not greedy. I gave it to you my dear. You are the first girl I am meeting who has actually stolen my heart. I like you. Please make my son happy. If he makes you upset, don’t hesitate to report him to me. Thank you, my dear. We will love to meet your family soon”

Dubie collected the set from her for me. He was very excited his mother liked me and so was I. We celebrated all by ourselves in the privacy of our bedroom. Dubie and I had influenced each other. I gave his business suggestions while he taught me how to be fashionable and classy. He spared no expense on making me look the way he liked. I was transforming and at the same time trying to return my values. I had to compromise most times. I didn’t really mind.

Dubie’s family came to my parents with his intention. My father asked me if I had accepted to spend the rest of my life with him. I confirmed it. My father insisted it would have to be after my graduation which didn’t sit well with Dubie. He tried to get closer to my family but it was not the same. My father never accepted anything from him especially money. Mother would follow whatever my father says. I asked Dubie to be patient as I was almost done. He requested for introduction to be done in January, by then I would have finished. He pressurized father until he agreed.

Emeka sent money to my account as he had informed me before. When the money came in, I was with Dubie. He called me immediately to find out if I got the money. I confirmed it to him. Dubie was upset about the call. I explained to him why we were still in communication and tried to make him understand Emeka no longer flirted with me as I gave no room for that but he refused to listen to what I had to say. I insisted I stopped communicating with Emeka and return his money back to him. I couldn’t do that. Communication was even difficult. He pressurized me to send the money back to him. He stopped talking to me and didn’t see me for two weeks. I confided in auntie Nneoma about the money.

“You are not yet married and he is insisting you don’t help Emeka. Why? Even you, you are not discreet. Why did you tell him? Emeka trusted you to transfer that money to you. Not his father or brother or even sisters but you. You should have kept it a secret. There is something about this Dubie I don’t like. If he is insisting, transfer the money to me. I will keep it for him until he needs it”

I transferred the money to auntie Nneoma’s account. She opened a joint deposit account with me. The money was in a fixed deposit for a month renewable every thirty days. It was yielding some money instead of just sitting pretty in my account. When I sent Dubie the evidence of the transfer; he began to talk to me again.

Dubie started another war. He asked me to return the building Emeka gave me. He didn’t want me to have anything to do with Emeka again. My father stood his grounds about the house. He held on to the documents. He told me, Nkemjika (the one at hand is greater). I told father Dubie promised to buy me a house. He said he should buy it first before he would return the house to Emeka. Dubie tried to make me do. Father had to call him to order by saying to him,

“Akwaugo will not return that property to Emeka. She built that house for him with the money he wanted to build one with. He gave her the house as compensation. You don’t return compensation; it means the other party still owes a debt. I don’t know why you are uncomfortable with what Akwaugo has. A husband shouldn’t be envious of his wife”

Dubie wasn’t happy after father spoke to him. “Your father hates me. Why would he claim I am jealous of what you have? I just don’t want Emeka coming up in our discussions that’s all. I don’t want you owing him anything. He is the past and I am your future”

I tried to make my parents understand Dubie but there was a disconnect. They complained about the changes they saw in me and it worried them. They felt I was obsessed with him and they wanted me to reason with my head before taking a decision. Suitors were still coming around. They came to seek my hand but I noticed no one; Dubie had captured my heart.

I concluded my six years of Medicine and Surgery course in December. I was happy. I was overjoyed. Dubie was too. My parents and sibling were filled with joy. I had achieved my father’s dream of being a doctor. I was going for one year housemanship after a three months break. I was excited. I was happy. I owed my success to my loved ones. I graduated with very good grades.

I was the talk of the village. I was the first medical doctor in my family and village as a whole. The very first. Dubie wanted us to celebrate in Lagos but I made him understand my parents would want me to remain with them. He was upset.

“You are not making us a priority anymore. Your parents should know you are in a relationship; why will they stop you from being with me? I asked for a date, your father said after you graduate. He should give me a date now let me marry you at once”

“Dubie, my parents are not like modern parents. I have explained this to you before. My parents would never support me going with you to Lagos unmarried. Try and understand. I can claim to visit Uju and come to you but to say I am coming to you; they will never agree”

“I am ready to marry you. Tell your father, I am ready”

“I will tell him”

Father insisted on January for the introduction and then a date will be fixed traditional marriage since he is my choice.
