Bittersweet Love – Episode 8

Ever since grandma died i felt so bad, so lonely, so hurt and so frustrated but am still glad i had mom by my side, i guess she was so hurt by grandma’s death. Everything seems like a nightmare to me, i just hate Toby and mom also suspect him. We moved into another apartment to avoid such things cos i can’t afford to lose mom also. Sean has contributed much to us and he was the one that helped us get a new apartment and moreover just some weeks after grandma burial, we had about Toby death, i knew something like this will happen but it a good thing cos we won’t be harm again. I was glad when mom get another job in a good company, i just hope this time nothing bad will gonna await her and as for me i recently gain admission in college and on my eighteen birthday which mom has threw a simple birthday party for me at the garden, i just get to invite my some of my friends and also Sean, he’s one of my special friend. I was done dressing in pink handless gown matching with my white sandals heels, my hair was well style by Rita, and also the make up was done by her. Mom most have cost much in buying me this dress, she’s so sweet, well am her only child she ought to do all this for me.

“Hey Sean,” i smiled as i saw him walking towards me, he look so handsome in his dress.

“i thought you’ll not gonna make it,” i said.

“not at all, you look pretty and happy birthday,” he said while i blushed.

“Thank you Sean, i want you to eat as much as you can,” i said smiling. I was so much enjoying the music that was played, the atmosphere seems so calm and nice and i felt so happy seeing some of my friends back then at high school and some from College. The party ended exactly at 7pm and i was already exhausted, i recieve so much gift from my friends and Rita, she’s just one of a kind and i really appreciates her for that.

“Pretty Irene, you’re now eighteen, you’re now permitted to have a boyfriend,” Rita said while i widen my eyes then looked at her.

“i don’t think so, mom would never allow me and beside i have no one in mind,” i said while she smiled, her phone immediately rang and she picked it up.

” i will be right on my way,” she said smiling.

“who is that? i asked her.

“it mom, i really need to go home, you know she have not been feeling too well,” she said.

“sorry about that, i will come visit tomorrow, am so sorry you need hurry up to take care of her,” i said while she smiled then kiss my cheeks as she quickly left. Almost everyone has left, expect those helping me packing my stuff, i was so tired when i heard someone call my name, i quickly turn and saw Sean, i really thought he left without even telling me, well it a good thing he’s still here.

“Sean, thanks for being here,” i said smiling.

“Irene i need to tell you something,” he said while my heart was already beating faster, he held my hand and we walked to a quiet place, we sat down on a white bench facing each other.

“so is it about school, i will love to go to your school,” i said smiling while he just looked at me not saying anything, i wonder what he want to tell me. “so what about the trip, are you still gonna go to your father at Canada? i asked but he wasn’t saying anything, he was only staring at me.

“Sean talk to me,” i said softly.

“i have been hiding this for such long time Irene, and i really need to let it out,” he said while he held my hands and shift a bit closer to me, he moved his head a bit closer then he did the unthinkable. Sean Kissing me!

Sean’s POV

I just don’t know how to tell her i love her, but i found myself kissing her, she also kiss me back without pushing me. I felt so happy, but i just hope she have feelings for me too.

“what are we doing Sean,” she asked softly as she withdrew from the kiss and breathe out and tried to stood up but i was still holding her hands and i held her back.

“i love you Irene,” i blurted out while she looked at me, i couldn’t explain the expression on her face, but she still looks pretty.

“yes Irene, i love you, please allow me be in your heart, allow me be in your world, i have always love you,” i said still holding her hands and looking straight to her eyes.

“i don’t know.. Sean,” she stammered.

Irene’s POV

I actually don’t know what to say, i like Sean as a friend but i don’t think i can date him, mom would not even allow me have a boyfriend.

“i really don’t know what to say Sean,” i said, my tears were filled up in tears.

“i love you Irene and i will always do, i will give you time to think and always wait for you,” he said and that makes me smile a bit. He pulled me closer to him and hug me, i feel so comfortable.

“Irene!, mom called, i quickly withdrew from the hug then stood up.

“have a nice day Irene, i need to go,” he said then turn to my mom.

“thank you for coming Sean,” my mom said smiling while he just nodded.

“Irene you can escort him to the gate,” mom said while i walked over him and we walked out.

“thank you Irene,” he said while i just smiled, i looked at him and could see so much sadness on his face.

“Sean i don’t want you to feel bad about this, what important is that we are still friends,” i said while he smiled a bit.

I stood at the gate and watch him entered his car until he drove off. I felt so down, Sean seems so hurt. I walked him back to my mom who was already already.

“thank you so much mom, you’ve made my day,” i said while she smiled.

Sean’s POV

Seeing Irene happy made my day but am still sad i just hope she feel the same way for me, i picked up my phone then called her, her voice seems so down, i really hope she feel something for me.

“are you okay Irene? i asked her getting so worried.

“thank you Sean, don’t worry much about me,” she said.

“you don’t need to feel so sad about anything, i will always wait for you until you love me back Irene,” i said.

“thank you Sean, today has been such a busy day, i need to sleep,” she said.

“okay then, goodnight,” i said then hang up and quickly texted her a goodnight message.

Irene’s POV

I looked at the message he just sent to me then smiled to myself, i kept my phone aside then drifted to sleep.

Sean’s POV

I and Irene has been getting in touch and i sometimes take her out, i really enjoy been with her, but everything changed when i receive a call from my uncle who told me about my dad’s accident that came as a shocked, mom hasn’t been concentrating again and she insisted we travel to Quebec to see dad, i wanted to see Irene leaving but my shedules were tight, i didn’t got the chance to tell her even thou i tired calling her line but she wasn’t pciking up, that was how we left with mom to Quebec and i have to take over dad business, i really miss Irene and hope to come back to her once dad has fully recuperate then somethng happen..!

Irene’s POV

Sean left without telling me althought i saw his call when he called me but i wasn’t their and i don’t have card to call back. I really miss him, i don’t know if he left me because he was so much hurt, i wherever he is i just hope he’s doing fine.

……It four years now, i and mom moved to our house at chattetown street, it a nice bungalow and am glad things are getting better, i still didn’t heard from Sean but hope he’s fine. Am done with college and hoping to get a job if possible work with Mrs. Tricia one of the famous writer i know, cos i like reading her books, they’re so inspirational. I was glad when Rita introduce me to her and she has decided to help me work and publish one of my first book which mom was happy about. Everything changed when i meet her son, the arrogant Christopher, as first i didn’t like him but then we eventually get fond of each other that’s when our love story begins. Mom later found that his dad was the one who raped her, his father was still the stupid man that raped my mom, everything changed into hatred, seeing Chris as my brother..
